I heard other moms in another group say they were all meeting up for coffee at Starbucks, so that must be close by.

Among many things, coffee would be a problem for me as well. If you want me up at 4, then there better be pot of strong coffee brewing.

Yep, I need coffee to jump start my brain as well as my body!

Thanks selaine!  super helpful website!! all the info helps!

A bunch of the guys that my husband trained with said they get leave towards the end of Pre-Buds before they go to Coronado. Not sure how accurate the timing is but I also heard the same thing!!! :)

Hi Everyone!

My husband is Div 816 Ship 04 also... just wanted to introduce myself since it took me awhile to get on here! :) We are newly weds (married Feb. 23rd) and have our first baby boy on the way (due Aug. 28th)! :) :) :) My husband said a lot of the guys who have girlfriends will be moving to Coronado as well.. he was so sweet in his letters, sounds like he is making me friends already lol! His bunkmate is a firefighter also from NY.. don't know if maybe his girlfriend is on here as well?? :)

When he called me his voice barely sounded like him it was so hoarse and he said they all pretty much got sick. I've been getting his letters on Wednesdays as well... it's my new favorite day of the week!!! :)

Well, only 25 days left! Wooohooooo!!!!! :D

Hey! My husband is in another division, but I was reading this post... Congratulations on the baby! My husband and I are newlyweds as well!...Aug 12, 2011. We had our little one in December =]. Hope you're doing well, and a happy father's day to your husband!

Hi Graybaby and Karianne,

It is great to have young newlyweds and new and soon to be parents to mingle with in the group!  The separation must be very, very, difficult for you both.  I believe in strength in numbers, so we will get through this first phase together.

Since I live in northern Illinois, I am anticipating getting a letter in the mail tomorrow.  I will share any news I receive and look forward to putting the puzzle pieces together with the news that other members will get this week.

Have a great evening!

Fancy Nancy did I hear right? Did you have temps in the 90's today?

Yes, ma'am--my temp. gauge on my car read 92.  It was somewhat humid and very windy.  The low tonight will be around 71.  It looks about the same through Wednesday--93 Tuesday and 91 Wednesday.  Then we are going back to the low 80's.

Tomorrow should be letter day!  Yahoo!

When my son was in GL, we used to joke that we would get everything he got the next day. I am in Jersey and tomorrow we are jumping in to the 90s. Big change from the 70s we have been having.

Well then, plan on a heat wave for the next 3-4 days;-). We had such a mild winter this year and now our weather is what we usually get in July.  It is just crazy.

I deleted my earlier post because I was afraid that I might have had too much detail.  I worry about being too open.  Anyway, for those of you who did not see my earlier post before it was deleted, I got a letter from my son today.  It looks like he gets to make a phone call on Friday (ship 04 Div 816).  Not too sure how long, but it is looking better than the last one.  He is suffering from shin splints really bad.  It hurts so much that it is affecting his running time.  Poor guy...the shoes must not be fitting correctly.  He said they are very busy and are finally getting to do some hands on things.  He is homesick and I think it is escalated because of fatigue.  He said he sleeps for 3-4 hours and then morning PT is really hard.

The emotional drain of having a kid in boot camp is beyond my wildest expectations.  Boy, I have a new respect and loads of empathy for all those families who have and had young men and women in the service.  I am thinking back about a church in our former town of Cary that used to have sign ups to adopt a sailor for Thanksgiving Day.  The young men and women would get bussed to the church, families would be assigned and take groups of 2 or 3 to their homes for the day.  We took part in it twice--and I am so glad we did.  My boy who is now in boot camp was probably 7 or 8 when we had the first sailors over.  I remember how appreciative they were that we let them call home 3 or 4 time throughout the day.  I have a new understanding for the what the families who were so far away from their kids on a holiday were going through.  I guess I am getting tired of the emotional roller coaster!

Hope everyone gets good letters and phone calls in the next few days:-)

Hi Fancy Nancy!
Sorry to hear about the shin splints , that would be really hard and to know he is homesick as well. I haven't heard about any injuries from my son yet.. but we are early into this process.
I loved hearing about your family taking in sailors on the holidays. How truly special huh? It is different now being Military Family. I noticed on Memorial Day I was WAY more in tune with everything that was happening...and loved hearing every story from the military. Take Care
