June 6

My son is in Division 937 and I am already so excited to attend PIR. Has anyone made their hotel reservations yet or am I the only one so anxious she did it BEFORE receiving the official letter?

So far I've only received the "I got here call" and "the box." Reminded me of birth -- naked they came into civilian life and naked they left it for the Navy :)

What a journey we are all on together!

Isn't this fun? Talking and learning from each other?

YES it is!!!

My son called Friday at 5:15!! We received two letters two days before that telling us he would be calling! He sounds okay, just tired. He is in the band. He asked for letters on a regular basis "one every day would be great mom", so that is what we are trying to do. It was so wonderful hearing his voice :)
We received two letters Thursday and my husban, daughter and I each got a phone call! I posted earlier, but do not see my comment. Anyway, he is playing an instrument in the band. He sounded okay, but tired, asking for a letter every day.

There is a facebook page for friends and family who have a loved one graduating on 7/27...come on over and join us.

I think most of you have joined this group already but there are some here looking for other in your PIR group so come and join them :-) https://www.facebook.com/groups/327167160695549/

Ok. I asked to join :)

Thanks for joining our group OmahaRudy, we are so honored to have you there. :-)

Any from ship02/div937 get a letter or call yet from their SR?  I was reading somewhere on here or navydep.com that they can write on the Second Sunday...not sure exactly what that means.  But hoping to see a letter this week...maybe....  I don't expect a call anytime soon.  My son doesn't need additional security clearance so I won't be getting that kind of call.

Anyone from PIR 7/27/12 going to Sarges on Thurs 7/26 for the meet and greet?  Our plane doesn't get in until 5pm so we may come back after we check in at the hotel.

i have not received a letter from my husband yet. but im hoping this week. the second sunday that they are there they can write, but it is up to the RDC over all. whether they get to send them or even write. a lot of people write at lights out but they can get into trouble if they get caught. if our SR's are doing good in their division we should get letters soon. and if they do well on tests they get rewarded at phone call home on week three. but that is also depending how the RDC is. what is this meet and greet ? i seen alot of ladies talking about it and ive asked but no reply? do you know the cost of sarge? im trying to find a reliable way to and from my hotel and im by myself so i want a safe route :)

thanks for the reply...lets hope for a good RDC and that they are all doing well in the division and on the tests.  I understand the 900 divisions are for performance skills...my son, Nick, sings and plays guitar...what about your husband.

The Thursday Meet and Greet at Sarge's is free...but not the adult beverages of course.  You can find info on the sidebar of the site under Events.  Just click on 7/27/12 on the calendar and the 7/26 Meet and Greet should come up.  I recall reading there that the local hotels offer a free shuttle to Sarges.  Hopefully that will be an option for you.  We are not staying local...we are at the Homewood Suites about 12 miles away from the base.  I called to make reservations the day I got the form letter and almost everything close was booked.  So we wont be able to use the shuttle...we have to rent a car.  Between the cost of the flights from California, the hotel and car rental this is quite an expense....but well worth it I know!!!!  Can't wait to my SR graduate!

my husband plays all types of instruments if its got a tone he can play it lol so im not exactly sure what they have him doing. unlike me lol im tone deaf. what is your sons rate? my husband is an AM.

thank you for answering lol i think most people just looked over that question the first few times i asked it (on other sites also not just here) i will have to check that out. oh i know the prices to fly from idaho are crazy also!!! but thankfully the girls on FB just told me i would be able to stay on base at the hotel b/c i will have my military id so im still going to price check everything but i think that is going to be my best bet.  and i wont get lost b/c the base is right there :) just getting to and from the airport may be a little difficult :) its nice to talk to someone on the west coast lol.   yes i totally agree no amount of money can stop me from seeing my husband i miss him like crazy!

in the previous conversations if you read them, one ladies daughter said our division has had IT alot. thats no good so hopefully they pulled together so we can start getting some calls and letters :)
