June 6

My son is in Division 937 and I am already so excited to attend PIR. Has anyone made their hotel reservations yet or am I the only one so anxious she did it BEFORE receiving the official letter?

So far I've only received the "I got here call" and "the box." Reminded me of birth -- naked they came into civilian life and naked they left it for the Navy :)

What a journey we are all on together!

hello. you can give them their personal belongings at the airport if you see them off. my husbands recruiter told us that i can give him his phone when he has to go back to base but he cant get caught with it. so i think i will just give it to him if i am able to go to the airport to see him off. idk about computers. i know once they get situated in A school then you can send them packages of their belongings. and also this is going to florida not staying in chicago i know its different for those people

How long until we know where they are going?  Or even our SR's?

Lisa... do you mean to A school or where they are stationed? we found out right away  but as far as where we will be stationed we wont know till right before he graduates A school

Ok  thas what I meant omg I must need a nap  lol

Sarge said in an e mail that all that would be explained at his meet and greet.  From what I've read, if you can get to the airport to see them off, you can hand phones and computers to them then.  But dont set that in stone LOL I am learning all about this too.  How are you guys learning about "A" school already?  I have no idea where she is going :(

his recruiter told us what A school he would be going to before he left. if you your SR paperwork inside f their "box" it should say on there also

scotts mom - that is wonderful...so happy for you!  I can't wait to get a letter from SR.  I was hoping maybe a letter would be in my mailbox when I got home from work...:)   not today...maybe tomorrow.  The Navy mantra gets inserted now....No News is Good News.  Words am living by these days.

scotts mom-I am oh so happy for you!  I will for sure watch my mailbox!  I hope my daughter is doing as well!  Thanks for the info!

My son is Ship 02 & Div. 937. I'm glad to finally get on here & find out some good information. He swore in on 5/29. I was able to get his address the following Monday from his recruiter. I already had 2 letters waiting for him 2 mail. I gave the address to his father & then held onto it for a few days until I gave it to the rest of the family. I thought he should hear from his parents first. His dad & I aren't together. I was 16 when I had my son. I will probably be the youngest mother there.

His dad received the call @2:30 am our time (Georgia) & then called me to let me know he was there safe & sound. He received the box the following week. Everything is going to him. I was upset about it at first but I think it's for the best. I don't think I could have held it together to speak w/him on the phone or go through the box. His dad & I are very close so he's keeping me updated on anything he gets & so am I. We just received the offical letter this past sat 6/16.

I as wondering what kind of hotel deals everyone has gotten? I am also looking into renting a car & driving up. It will be a 13hr drive for us but I'm out of a job right now so money is tight?

Has anyone in this division received any letters from their sons, daughters, wife's, or husbands yet?

I GOT A LETTER! Here's what I learned: June 17 ended their first real week of boot camp. The first two weeks (for my son) were spent waiting to fill their division and processing-- he got to Great Lakes on May 29. In military-speak this is 2-3 which translates to day three of week two.

They only had half their division until last week. There were 88 in the division, now down to 86..

My son said the females are having some in-fighting difficulties and talking too much. He is looking forward to learning seamanship and more --not just folding:)

HE PASSED HIS INITIAL physical fitness test. He said he misses some thing's but is not homesick!

Have faith, your letter is coming!!

someone asked about deals at hotels. I'm at the navy lodge-$65 per night.  Call Sarge, he knows of many hotels. His number is posted on his meet and greet site. Look at the events calendar for July 26. Good luck!

Omaha - I'm so happy for you!!!  You must be on cloud nine.  No letter yet here but I am keeping the faith...maybe tomorrow!  I read somewhere on here that div 937 had a few IT's already...sounds like it may have been a result of the females in-fighting.  Let's hope that has calmed down.  Anyway, so glad to hear your son is doing well.  Also good to get a confirmation of what week/day the are actually on.  Thanks for sharing your news!   I can't wait for a letter...you just may hear my screams of joy all from California!!!

WE GOT OUR LETTER TOO!  We actually got 2.  One for the family and one for my husband (kinda like a father's day card)!  She did mention the fighting but all and all, she is doing well.  She said she misses all of us when she actually has time to stop and think about it!  She said her normal day is 0500-2200 and with being in the 937 Division, they practice on Saturdays!  She did not mention any of her testing, so I'm not sure how she did. One of her letters was dated 6/14 and the other one was dated 6/17.  In the 6/14 letter she said that they were told they would get a phone call next Friday depending on how good they are...so I'm thinking 6/22...She also said in her 6/14 letter that this was the 1st day they received mail.  She said the food is amazing and is so good and she is hungry all the time!
