My son is in Division 937 and I am already so excited to attend PIR. Has anyone made their hotel reservations yet or am I the only one so anxious she did it BEFORE receiving the official letter?

So far I've only received the "I got here call" and "the box." Reminded me of birth -- naked they came into civilian life and naked they left it for the Navy :)

What a journey we are all on together!

What a great message, Loriemae!

Thanks, a lot of emotions to unload.  Glad to be off that rollercoaster!!!

dido on that OmahoRudy. Where's the like button on here? haha.

It never entered my mind that some of the SR's wouldn't get any letters.  I don't know why, I guess because I write all the time~~~so my thought is to see if any of your SR's know of any that aren't getting them and then write!!  I am waiting on another letter to she if my daughter knows of any, and I sure will write.  They need it.

Lisa - i'm with you.  I was surprised when my son told me that.  He didn't mention anyone specifically but I will ask in my next letter.  I would interested in writing.

yeay im happy you got a phone call. i was worried that my husbands first letter was going to upset me b/c of how hard it was on him, but thankfully it wasn't that bad , or i would have been a mess. he was mostly concerned for me . hes so sweet :)

a few girls on this facebook support group i am  on had found out there was one guy in their husband's division that wasn't getting any letters at all, so they joined up together and all wrote him, that was a life saver for him. i can't imagine being there and not getting anything. i asked my husband in a letter if anyone there wasn't getting letters but they have so much going on he doesn't get to answer all my 100 questions i send / letter lol.

ahh ladies i am so lucky i found you. Its great to be able to share my joy and concerns with you!! today when my sister got off of work i ran out into the garage and said " I GOT A CALL!!!!" she said " oh....cool"  lol not the response i was expecting but she doesn't really understand what im going through. i haven't been this happy in a long time :) so im glad i can come on here and tell you all whats going on and i know you know exactly how i feel :)

a truly blessed navy wife <3

Im wondering if we were to send the letter to ""Any solider" address etc.... if they would give it to one of them whom are not getting mail (Like my son yet, but I have him covered LOL)  Or if it would be thought of wrong? maybe make a note on the back if there is one whom is not getting mail to please pass it on? I could do that

you could try but idk if they will give it to anyone or just toss it out. if i were you i'd send it to your son in side of another envelope and tell him to give it to someone who isn't receiving any letters that way you know for sure it will get passed on :)

well hmmmm  I don't know the answer to that.  There has to be someone that might know.  It's a week between letters, am I correct?  They get to write on Sundays (?) and I got mine on Thurs.  So another week waiting to write SR's that aren't getting them.  Anyone with suggestions and/or answers?

OK  I have asked the question~~~here's the answer ~~  Negative. You really need to address mail to a specific sailor.  So there we have it.

Hi All!  This is my first post - I just joined!  I got my call on Friday - I didnt expect it until next week.  My son - "T", couldnt get through to me at first.  He called my ex who had to call me before my son finally got in touch with me.  When I answered the phone I could hear how distraught he was (prob b/c he was afraid he would not reach me more than anything).  That just broke my heart.  Like most, he too has been home sick - even though he has been away plenty.  But this is different.  Once we got through the hard part, he started telling me about his accomplishments.  He earned a staff position and has been acting as the Weapons Petty Officer of the ship.  He went in as an E2 (he had a few years in the cadet program in Groton as a teen) and if he is successful with this position, he will be promoted to an E3. Like many of you have said, this group seems to have had some difficulties pulling it together (I heard about the recruit/recruit contact, too).  This makes it all that much more difficult, but he sounded determined.  It was good to hear his spirits lift as he was telling me stories -  I could hear how proud he was which in turn made me even more proud - if possible!  He also auditioned and made the band - he plays trumpet.  He was very excited and excited to learn the graduation date would be sooner than expectected - as was I as I think I can get the time off from work now!!  Neither of us have received letters yet - hopefully he has now and I hope to soon.  Any of you in the MA/CT/RI area?  Just curious.  So glad to have found you - it has been wonderful reading your posts!
