June 6

My son is in Division 937 and I am already so excited to attend PIR. Has anyone made their hotel reservations yet or am I the only one so anxious she did it BEFORE receiving the official letter?

So far I've only received the "I got here call" and "the box." Reminded me of birth -- naked they came into civilian life and naked they left it for the Navy :)

What a journey we are all on together!

So glad the letters are arriving! Can't wait to meet you all :)

I sent off 2 more letters this morning, I also had his brothers write to him... I hope it does help with the homesickness a bit, I hated seeing it in his letter. So I hope that his next couple of letters will perk up some, I have passed on his letter to his cultural group he was in at Collage and I know they will all write to him.. the hard part was telling them no care packages yet... as they were all gathering stuff.... Soon enough though soon enough...

OK Ladies I gotta Brag, and I am figuring this is why no one is on here...... I GOT A CALL ..........WOOOOO HOOOOOO

He sounds good, and it made me feel so much better, he was telling me of all the trouble they had been in (One young lady was flirting with another diviion, and was recently sent back to the start of the progrram-YUCKO... and when she wouldnt "Man up, they had to do push ups and sit ups, he said they sweat/condensation was dripping off the ceiling)  He is Playing the Tuba in the group,  and his Bunk mate is some one with the Initials of JH and has a small 2 month old baby (Anyone here)

He said he should be able to call home again in 2 weeks or so I hope so it was nice to chat for the 21 minutes, I wanted to keep on but they got the 5 minute warning and he said he had to go he had 5 to get back to his area. OHHHH But I am SOOOOOO Happy.

Me too, me too. I got a call, too! It was GREAT to hear his voice. He has a cold and blisters and is tired from lack of sleep due to studying and standing watch. He said there are great guys in the division. He passed the swimming test and the first physical assessment. Within the next week or two he thinks they will have hit their stride.

He misses friends and family and loves the letters and pictures.

SO proud and happy!

bathan6 my husband told me about that girl too. how sad. i sure hope they start working better as a division!! ah wasn't it so great to hear from them? my husband sounded so different b/c of the phone he was using on top of a cold lol at first i thought someone was playing a joke on me hahaha. i can't wait for our "I'm a sailor " call :) yeayyy what a great day!!!

GUESS WHAT GUESS WHAT!!!!! I GOT MY PHONE CALL!! oh wow im so sooo happy. My prayers got answered. Im so blessed it was today b/c tomorrow i will be out of service all day and i was worried i would miss his call!!! it was a whole 33 minutes long!! he sounded very good. he really likes it there. he has a bad cold but he is doing great!! he passed all of his tests and ranked up !!! im so proud of him. he was talking alot about all the people there. he said their division is still having a really hard time working together. he is going on 4 hours of sleep within two days :/ . he said a few people got sent home and held back. this makes me want the time to go by some much faster. he said there are some other married men there and they are always depressed thinking when they get back their wives or girlfriends will be gone. i said you don't think that do you he said NO WAY i know my wife loves me :) !!! it meant so much to me to hear from him. i was actually taking a nap when he called im so thankful i woke up :) he really likes it there because it pushes him hard. and i can hear the love in his voice for me ( i know that sounds crazy ) but its so amazing. he told me he almost missed the chance to call me because he was suppose to be at work at the chapel!! im glad he didn't. when we got the 5 minute call he told me to grab a watch because he had to be off in 4.5 minutes. he says i need to write more lol. when we had to say our good byes i was crying so much. oh how i miss him!!! but that really lifted my spirits to hear from him!! i hope you all get a call soon :)

Oh, UrabissWife, What a sweet message. It must be SO hard on those who are married, engaged or in love. it sure sounds like your guy is doing well, though. Does everyone in Division 937 have a cold? Well I guess in close quarters what one gets, they all get.

Our phone call was long, too. MUCH longer than I ever anticipated. It was wonderful. What does he do at the chapel? What is his rating?

I heard, also, about some getting sent home. Well, I know my son was told that boot camp is meant to weed out those who can't do it. I guess it's doing its job.

Can't wait to hear from the rest of you about your calls!

oh it is so tough but i know this is going to strengthen our marriage!! i told him not everyone can be a navy wife. it takes true love and friendship :)  im so happy lol my message was so long . he told me about a few people and how they got into trouble but idk if i say anything on here if he will get into trouble? i asked him if he has had a cold the whole time he says its not the same cold its a bunch of sickness that goes around. but you have to think of all the shots they get, they inject you with stuff so you wont catch it, im sure it takes a tole on their immune system :) . he told me he is glad I am going ot his PIR alone becuase alls he wants to do  is spend time with me, but he is really worried about me being alone in chicago, especially the taxi trip up to the hotel.

I asked him how long the phone call was going to be he said only 5 minutes b/c their division was not doing good at all. but when it was that long i was so thankful.  he moniers the bathrooms and keeps them clean. they told him to make converstaion with those in line , to uplift them and modivate them. he loves it. he gets to minister to people thete. he told me in his letter that a senior division was shocked by his positive atitude b/c he was only don with his first week after P-days.

he said they are on week 2 days 5. i read what my paper says. that they should get wisdome teeth pulled, he said they are way passed that. i told him it would be different because they put him in a rush division :) .

he is now an E-2
im so rpoud of him he worked so hard before he left to make sure he was prepared. he said for his fitness test he had a short little girl as a partner and he did 55 pushups and she did just as many!!! WOW i can barely do 5 hahaha

yeah that is what my husband said, that they are trying to get all the weakest one out.

i felt so bad, he said he was the only one who didn't get letters on the 14th :( i tol dhim i sent all my letters as soon as i got his address he said he was really upset :/ i felt so bad. he said he asked when mail call was b/c he wanted to send me a letter and the RDC said "what man you think someone out there misses you ?!" he said " yes petty officer" the RDC yelled " well they dont!!" how sad huh!!

i can't wait to hear more about calls either. its like a puzzle and everyone puts in a pieces and we get this clear picture of what our SR are going through :)

lol sorry so long im just so happy to share!

UrabissWife-This is funny!! Your husband's partner must have been my daughter! She is very short, 4 feet 9 inches, but has learned to stretch to around 4'10'' when she is being measured. She has always been little. Weighed 25 lbs when she started kindergarten (and she was almost 6yrs old-one of the oldest in her class) and was in the 3rd grade before she could sit in her chair and still be able to reach her desk to do her class work! LOL. She is now 24 years old and still short. Comes from my side of the family. She has always exercised and had started working out more when she decided to enlist in the navy. Where is your husband from? She talked about a man with an accent that she thought was really cool, so am wondering if it your husband. We are from the south, so if it is him, he may have difficulty understandling her. In the south, we have no one syllable words, even the word "I" is stretched out into 2 syllables. lol!!

haha i was thinking no my husband doesn't have an accent but my cousins are form the south and tell me i have an accent too lol. we are from idaho. :) did she mention his name???

HI Urabisswife-and all-  I have not been on here since Friday but we too got our phone call!  What a whirlwind!  I missed her trying me at 1st and I was so pissed!  I knew it was her because the call was from area code 847...but God works in mysterious ways because of me missing her 1st call..she was able to call her BF, her dad (my husband who was not at home) and then called me again.  Before she called back, I prayed that she would be able to call back!  He answered my prayer!  She called back with that 2nd phone call!  She was able to talk to (on speaker) me, her sister and her best friend..things are going good.  Still some fighting with the females.  I gave her some motherly advise to let the leader take care of it and just worry about herself...I'm sure she was thinking yeah, yeah, yeah...oh maybe not now how I read about the yelling that they get!  HA! I was on cloud 9 all night!  She talked a lot of how hard it is to write.  I told her not to worry about it but she loves all the mail she gets and to keep it coming!

Urabisswife-My daughter is short...about 5'3'' but a tough, stubborn little cookie!  Did he mention initials?  Not sure if we can ask that here...What do you mean about your husband afraid with you alone in Chicago with your taxi drive up?  Are you staying close to the base or no?

Ruzymommy: Praise God you got to talk to her. that is amazing. isn't it great to have your prayers answered. God knows our heart :) i cried after i talked ot him b/c all my prayers had been answered. i got his letter i got a call and his PIr information that got lost in the mail came 2 weeks late lol all came within a week :). lol my sisters fiance was saying "youre walking around like oyu are on cloud nine" lol i said "I feel like im on cloud nine" hahah they dont really know what im going through and how it feels haha.

he told me the work that was his partner was 4 feet tall  .. he didn't give a name or anything. he was just awestruck by how many push ups she could do :) . thats the only thing i've heard of her.  I know he is really close to a guy he met there, i wish i could post his name to find his family but ill i have done is initials. :) no luck so far. hopefully his family is supporting him and all of that.

he is afraid of me traveling to the base from the airport by myself. in such a big city. we come from tiny towns so its a big change, and you never hear anything good about chicago around here ( but of coarse they wouldn't take time to mention the good things on the news)  i think i am going to stay right next to the base. i am still checking for rates but i think i will be safer stay at the lodge in the base. him and my mom are worrying alot. its in their nature, but i should be okay :) atleast i pray i will be okay :) . i told my mom and her friend i would take pepper spray with  me, he friend said "really ! taking pepper spray to chicago is like taking a knife to a gun fight" lol its nice to know so many people care about me but i don't want them to worry !
