OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

My son is in Division 937 and I am already so excited to attend PIR. Has anyone made their hotel reservations yet or am I the only one so anxious she did it BEFORE receiving the official letter?
So far I've only received the "I got here call" and "the box." Reminded me of birth -- naked they came into civilian life and naked they left it for the Navy :)
What a journey we are all on together!

Sorry, one more thing - the coolest, I think... I had been pretty ok since he left, but 2 days before he called I could not stop crying. Kept picturing him in bed at night feeling alone and upset and wondering if he made the right choice. I just felt something was wrong. When he called, I learned that I was right! That same day he learned he would not be able to come home after boot camp and would go straight to A school in FL - not being allowed visitors while there. While very disappointed - it was amazing to see that we truly do have a connection - like a mother to her baby - she always wakes to the slightest cry. :)

Welcome, Karina! So glad you found us! It is so helpful to learn from each other and from those who have walked this path before us. One of the things I've noticed is that there seems to be an underlying determination and positivity in what we're hearing from our SRs -- even when they are sick, exhausted and have blisters. And the extra IT (instructional or intensive training) they get when they do something wrong doesn't hold them back. I know they'd prefer a cohesive division, and it sounds like that is beginning to form!
Just think, from here on out it should be getting better each week! -

Thank you, OmahaRudy! I am so confused as to how this whole thing plays out (PIR). I just learned that my sister received and opened the "letter" a week ago...I have yet to see it. I was lucky enough to get my SRs address - I was under the impression she got it from his recruiter. I am a bit upset, but should have the letter soon. I just miss him very much. Do you know what time, if any, we will be able to spend with our (then) Sailors before or after PIR? Do they usually get leave before going to A school? We were given some incorrect information before my SR sent to BC, so needless to say it has been a bit more difficult as of lately. Thanks for your support. I am very happy to be part of this community. It is very helpful and comforting.

well first of all, welcome :) you've come to the right place to get some answers, but we are all going through the same stuff thats for sure, so answers may be hard. i joined a few groups with wives that have had to go through the same thing and ive been doing a lot of research :) my husband will be going to FL also. we will get some time with our SR after graduation. it ends around ten am and we get the whole day with them . they have to be back for curfew which i think is 1900 (7pm) and then saturday morning they fly out. we are allowed to go to the airport to see them off, there we can give them their personal belongings, phones clothes ect.

Boy I didnt log on and we get a whole nother page.... HAHA... I hope everyone is having a restful weekend, and has been busy writing to mail out tomorrow....
Welcome Karina, You have found the right place for a great welth of information and some top notch ladies who will put your mind at ease as well as they can (We all worry about out SR's) My Son is , JB, he too is in the band and is playing the Tuba. His first letter home was on Thursday and then his call on Friday. and the difference between them was night and day, he was oh so home sick sounding in his letter and told me on the phone, Mom, I have been looking forward to this call all week long. It raises their sprits, and to tell you honestly, I think I needed that call as much as my son did.
OK Ladies I have a question, I have been lurking around some FB pages with former members of our Division and they are saying that the moms (Wives) all wore the same color shirts, II dont know why Either to stand out as We are the moms/wifes of the "Band (Dont we sound like groupies LOL) or so they can spot us easier? Have any of you heard of this??
Second question is Pictures? The formal ones, How or where do we get these? I know the group photo is at the end, but the ones they take of your SR in his dress Blues ot whites. I have Grandparents asking me about them...as if I know everything, Well I pretend to at times,

After graduation we get the day with our sailor, like UrabissEife said. They will know when curfew is. My son is going to San Antonio and had heard that he will have to be at the airport at 2am and he cannot receive personal items. It might be different for different ratings and different A schools. Again, your sailor will be able to give you that information.
Regarding pictures. I believe they are taken around week 4. Your sailor needs to order the package and then it should be ready to pick up at the NEX. According to into I've read, there is a package of pictures that costs about $140 that is apparently the best deal and includes a copy of the Keel-their "yearbook." There is a link on this site someplace that talks about the formal pictures ans how to get the. I wrote to my SR and asked him to order the package. -

I haven't bn all all weekend. So, great 2 hear how every1 is doing & it seems we all 4 the most part r still on a high from the calls on friday. I did receive my call Friday & like many of u was so happy just 2 hear his voice. He thankfully isn't 1 of the 1's that is sick but he did say most of the division is. He said they had just gotten in trouble again right b4 they were able 2 make the phone calls. He confirmed like many others have said it seems 2b the girls. He said they're getting alot of IT, 4 everything. He said write me everyday i don't care if it's just about the weather because it sucks here. We r from GA so i'm sure it's alot diff. there. He said he didn't make his running test by 30sec. because the air is so dry. I got my hotel booked yest. & can't wait 4 the day 2 get here. He will being staying in Great Lakes 4 "A" skl. He will have 2 ck in right after graduation from what I understand but shld b able 2 spend some of the weekend days w/us. I haven't heard if any other's that r. Looks like most r going out of state. He is in the band playing the baritone. I joked w/him since he hasn't played since middle skl that they must have bn hard up 4 some1. He just laughed & said he remembered how 2 play still. I cld hear his voice start 2 crackle like he was about 2 cry so I just keep asking questions & making him laugh 2 get his mind off of missing home.

Hi cherylhubb-glad to hear you too received your phone call. My daughter is also in this division and man do I hope it is NOT her that is the trouble maker...She didn't make reference that it was her...but why would she. HA! All I could say is...Just worry about yourself and let your leader take care of the trouble...She is in the choir and said that since she is one of the shortest females...She will be carrying one of the flags. She didn't make much reference to IT...Just kept saying to keep writing and it is so hard for her to write because they keep them so busy. Probably a good thing! I know she leaves right away on Saturday for San Antonio. Hopefully she will have more details as to what time next time she writes or calls. With just making the hotel reservations, were you able to book close to the base?

i made this and thought maybe you ladies might want to use it also. i documented everything like when i got a call his box his papers ect. :) i printed it out and now its on my wall i mark off the days for a countdown :)
