Hello! I'm a wife, not a mom...So I'm not sure if I am welcome here or not!? I am wondering if any of you have any experience with wive's visiting Bahrain? And also if any of you know anything about the early out program there. Thanks! :)

Of course you are welcome here! Haven't heard anything about anyone visiting Bahrain...are you thinking of going? Are you on Facebook? If you are join the 5th Fleet page and you'll get all sorts of news. The latest that they posted was that security measures coming and going to Bahrain have tightened up at the airports. Hopefully someone else will have some experience and respond to your question. I left a post about early out on the Bahrain moms page.
Thank you Jill! I do have the 5th Fleet page on my facebook, and I asked them about it as well. They were very helpful but I still had a few more questions so maybe I will try to call them instead :)
Hi, I've visited Bahrain twice (August-September 2011 and December 2011). I really enjoyed it. It's a very Western-friendly country, with all the Western amenities that we're used to. You can apply for a visa before you go (recommended as applications can be rejected), or you can apply for a visa once you get to Immigration and Customs in Manama. It's a two-week visa, usually not able to be extended. The mall I went to (there are several, I went to City Centre) is amazing and has all sorts of shops that we don't have here in the U.S. There is a great Persian restaurant on American Alley, and the 24-hour place right in front of base is pretty good too. I don't know what an early out program is, but if you have any other questions about the country and visiting, I'd love to help! Good luck!
My daughter just put in for Bahrain and if she goes I definitely want to go see her. I looked at airfare and I better start saving. Where did you stay? Did you rent a car or use public transportation? Did you go to any other countries from Bahrain? I really don’t have anything set since she is still waiting to hear back but thought I would start looking around for information. Thank you for your advise!
I am going to Bahrain in December, yes flights are spendy...I went on Booking buddy and found a hotel, it is called The Grand Sarif. about 3 blocks from the base, my daughter has a car so no need to rent it will be easier to have your daughter rent a car rather than yourself. You will also have to apply for a Tourist visa 30 days prior to travel. You can do this online. Hope this helps I will post more as my plans are more concret.
Thanks Mary! She did get here orders and Bahrain it is. She doesnt ship out until December so I dont plan to visit until 2013. Let me know how you make out and any details would be appreciated. I would love to go to Dubai too.
I was just reading post about going to Bahrain, this is wonderful!! My husband thought I was out of my mind when I said I was going to see my son at Christmas, now I know it's possible. Thank you, keep the info comimg!!
