Yesterday, I dropped my daughter off at the recruiters office. The whole family was there.  We saw her picture posted on the wall along with other recruits.  I made a strong effort not to cry in front of her. I did have dinner with her at the Hotel and spent a few hours with her.  I needed to make sure that she was okay.  She was actually excited and happy with her decision. She is going in as a E3 and in 6month can move up to a E4, thanks to her BS degree.    I have to say that I did good. Our time together and the talk we had during dinner kind of eased my worry a bit.  I actually did a lot of research on this page, which turns out to be a blessing in so many ways.  For this I am very thankful.

On the way home while I was driving I did start to cry. I got home and cried some more.  The family is having a hard time with her leaving. I know in my heart that she will be okay and is strong enough to get through bootcamp and A school.  She actually told me that she is looking at bootcamp as a personal trainer.  I think the hardest part for her was cutting her long hair, which I cut.  Now I am just waiting for the call..  I want to thank everyone here for their support.

This will be my story in 6 months... How long was your daughter a DEPper?

Hello Figgie125,

I am not sure if it was 8 or 7 months.

Hi, Was she told to prepare physically?  Mine is planning to begin working out when she returns from vacation. Becuase as of right now, she cant do a single push-up.  I reminded her that she was expected to do a certain amount in 2 minutes!!

Hello Figgie125,

Sorry for the delayed reply.  Actually she was told to start preparing her body physically. She did start jogging and doing the required exercises and started timing herself to see how well she did.   I and some of her friends became for buddy partner with some of the exercises.  Overall, it will make things easier if she start preparing her body so that she is prepared.
