Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

jpost, yes there will be a group set up for 2 98, once 7/6 has their PIR. Look for the link in the PreBuds groups next week. This will be a private group and will require a request to join. You will need to change your settings on your page to private by checking "friends only" who can view your page.

My son's fiancee got a call this afternoon--around 3:30 (GLT-Great Lakes Time!). It was about 20 minutes. I did not get a call--get this: he didn't write down my cell number! The first thing I did was send him a letter with my number and his brother's. Go figure.
It sounds like all is going well and the guys are really counting down the days! It is great to be in the teens!

Yes, you are so right. The guys need the bonding with their friends. They probably get to vent on a different level since they want to be positive and strong for us!
Don't you just love some of the great comments on this site? Some of the members crack me up. Then there are those that I just want to reach out to and hug.
I will check my friends list and invite you if you are not already there, ok? You are going to Sarge's Meet and Greet, right?
I did get a letter yesterday. It sounds like the most difficult things are behind them and there is classwork and practices for PIR coming up soon. I think once BS is over, they are home free!

Happy (hot) Saturday all!
Hot and humid again in Chicagoland. We are on a streak of 90 plus degree weather through Tuesday. This is the type of weather we usually have in mid July.
Yes, it has been quiet here in our group. There is more activity in the Boot Camp group, but I think that is because the newest recruit moms are dealing with what we did 6 weeks ago. We are in a holding pattern for a few days and then comes the whirlwind of activity! Just think...one more PIR and then it is our turn!
Ok, friends. Be happy... Right now, the countdown is 12 days, 18 hours, 37 minutes, 26 seconds.
