My son is due back in early Oct. I have received very little information from anyone on this deployment. Yes I am on the ombudsmen list for news, updates, etc. When I finally made contact about a month ago to find out if there had been any information during the last 9 months, I was told that my email was on the crew list, not family. Anyway since then two emails. My email is set up for delivery/read acknowledgments, and they have been read. I really want to be there is time, since I was not able to be there for their last homecoming. It is at the point of no return getting a airfare at a somewhat reasonable price. Even with my job, they are willing to split the cost of the trip, as I would be able to visit two of our facilities in the area before the day they are due home and then would have a couple of days to spend with him.

Don't know much at the moment. She is out of town visiting family. I should have an email from her no later than Monday evening. She did mention a band and other stuff. I am so excited.
Awesome! Glad to read you will get to meet" your son and see the ship come in. Its a good news" day!
What is an ombudsmen?
The ombudsman is a person who keeps in contact with the ship or command and passes on all the information to Family and Friends. Like homecoming information.. Ect. They are also there for support.
How do you find one for your ship?? I have been finding out all my info through emails from my son and other moms
Check the ships website, there is usually a link with that information. Also, the request to be from my son to be added, I could not do that
Ok I am going to San Diego for homecoming. YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Any ideas on where to stay that does not cost over $100 a night. I know the closer to the beach the more expensive. I just don't know the area and how far is to far away.

My son told me to check the Navy Lodge, which would be great, but I will be there before him and he has to be there to check in.
Call the Navy Lodge and let them know you are there for your son's homecoming.
I just talked to the Navy Lodge and he has to be with me to check in and only two of the days would be available. I did find a hotel close to the base for less $100 a night.
