My son leaves tomorrow, July 10 and arrives July 11th at boot camp. We live in Kentucky. Anyone else have a recruit leaving from this area?
We live just outside Louisville, but our daughter is leaving from Cleveland as that's where she was living when she enlisted...We're up here now with her and will be dropping her off at her recruiters in 4hrs. :( And then home for us as we decided not to stay to see her actually leave tomorrow morning at the airport...Oh, just noticed your son will arrive at GL on the 11th...My daughter will arrive tomorrow the 10th...Good luck!!
Hi Everyone!
I am so glad we are all finding each other! Last night was my son's last night at home. He was very quiet, so I just gave him his space. Today we will bring him to the hotel, then tomorrow he should arrive at Great Lakes! Let's keep in touch on this board. Hang in there!
Hello qmastermom..I did the same for my son's last night at home. He had his best friend over to keep his mind off things for one more night. You hang in also.
My son left for MEPS this morning to do paperwork. We will meet him at the hotel later this afternoon. He will ship out tomorrow. He is really looking forward to it and we are so excited for him.
@navymom88
Where is your son shipping from? Did he wait a long time in DEP?
We will be leaving in a few hours also to bring him to the hotel. We are very excited!
"Mynavybaby", I heard my daughter was standing right next to yours when they swore in again this morning...Did you by chance get any pictures that you could share with me please??...Just let me know...Thanks!!
My son (Nathan) left today for bootcamp. I think it hasn't hit me yet. Cant believe he is gone. He called me during their layover so that was nice. He is still upbeat, but I know what is coming once he arrives at boot. More emotions going on then I thought one person could have.
My son is on the plane as we speak. He does not land in Chicago until 8:30. I know it will be a long night.
I anxiously await the "I'm here" phone call. Keep in touch. We should be in the same PIR group.
That would be nice if we are in the same PIR group. We should make a PIR group when we get the date. I guess that is how everyone keeps in touch with everyone that has the same PIR. My son said he was to arrive in Chicago around 10pm. I plan on walking around with the phone attached to me until he calls.
Got "the call" from my daughter from GL about an hour ago...Was surprised to get it so early, ( wasn't expecting it til much later)...I was in the car, radio turned up, and had forgotten to turn my bluetooth on...Just happened to see the phone light up with her name...Thought she calling again from O'Hare, but heard some loud military sounding men in the background, and I knew!! :) It was short and sweet just as they said it would be.
Let the fun begin I guess. :)
I got "the call" at 1:30 am. He sounded great. His only concern was staying up all night and day. Now we wait for "the box". I am going to start writing my letters to him today so I can slip them in the mail as soon as I receive his address. Looking forward to this adventure!
