Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Hi Moms,
I'm new to this website and am so glad to be here. My son got to Great Lakes last night and called me about 12:30 am. He sounded shell shocked. I am missing him so much, but I know he is in good hands. I look forward to participating here and getting to know some other moms who are in the same boat. I have a question. When can we send letters and is there an address to send letters to? Oh, this is going to be hard.

Hi! I am in the same boat!!! My son is going to Great Lakes on Tuesday. It has been so hard for me not to break down and bawl, but I am trying to stay strong for him! This looks like a great site to get connected with other Moms who are in the same boat. You are right, this is going to be hard!

laurao064, I'm not going to lie, it's really hard. So many emmotions all at the same time. But you will get through, and this group is awesome! My son left May 22nd. We received the call that he got to GL at about 12:15 am. Then a week later "the box" The following Monday, his form letter with his address. Still waiting to receive a letter from him. This past Wednesday we got a call from him but he couldn't talk, he just needed to get his bank acct. no. I didn't even answer the phone, my husband did. Being able to be a part of this group has really helped me get through each day since he has been gone.

Ok, I have now received my sons address it came last thursday, and he was delivered to the recruit command on June 6 in wee hours of the evening/morning of the 7th. He is with SHIP 13 DIV 236 ... any other moms have theirs in the same DIV??

Hi I am also new to the site my daughter left last Wednesday and I just got her address I heard we can only mail letters and cards..I know what ur going through I miss my daughter so much!!

Im new to this website also, my son left two weeks ago. You will be getting a letter that tells you alot of things you will need to know. This will have his address that you can write to and it will also have his graduation date.

I got that same phone call at 5:40 Monday the 9th. I love "he sounded shell shocked", that is exactly how I described it to my husband. Our daughter Jess sounded so scared it was tough on me, but I know she will be okay. For weeks her favorite line when we tell her that she has to be mentally ready is "I know", I wonder what she is saying today.

My son left sunday and was in great lakes monday night They will send us information with address to write them We just have to get through the nights of not seeing them texing them talking to them hearing from them this is the hardest for me the nights

We just received our first "real letter" from our son last night. About one week after he left (which was June 28th) we got his "form letter" it has a lot of information in it including the address you have to use to send your letters.

My son Cody has been in Great Lakes for 3 days. I miss him a lot and hope he is alright. Im imaging basic is like a summer camp and he will be ok. Miss him, did i say thay? Lol

You will b fine sweetie. My son is in his 4th year and just re-upped for 4 more. Boot camp is very hard on the parents, cause your son will make friends for life and have a good time after the shock wears off. He will send you his address as soon as he can write you. I still have all of those letters and will never part with them. I will pray for you cause I know exactly how you feel and do not worry he will be fine, I promise!!!! God Bless you all!!!!
