Hi djmom! There are a few of us with family members that leave 17July. Sorry I just noticed your post, but glad to have you here!

Hi thank you for responding.  It was six months ago when the recruiter told us he would be leaving in July.  I can hardly believe we are down to 15 days!  He is my youngest and the only son.  I have been reading N4M's for a couple of months now.  It is my turn to participate.  What state do you live in?  Looks like I might be going to Great Lakes for graduation alone.  It would really be nice to team up with some of the others when I arrive there.  I am looking forward to having new N4M's friends.

Hi djmom,

We are in  Portland, Oregon. It will be great to meet you and all of the mom's on here! Definitely glad for some new friends! 5 days and a wake up! Wow. It's starting to actually become REAL...

Hello DJ mom, my son leaves from Concord and than from San Joise, where are you?

I am in Antioch, a hop skip and jump from you.  Nice to meet you.  I am going to the Hotel in San Jose to spend the night and see my son swear in on Wednesday before he is off to the airport.  He is 19 and my only son ( i also have two daughters that are older than him).  This is so bitter sweet for me.  I think the discipline of the Military will be good for him.  It was his choice to serve his country.

My son goes to San Jose on the 17th of July...  Next week.  The days have sped up and moving super fast.

My son leaves today as well to San Jose. It feels hard....I might be able to have dinner with him tonight. This saying goodbye is never ending it seems like. Stay strong!

I received my form letter today and the little note at the bottom made me smile and cry all day .. Hoping it gets easier .. My son graduated high school in may ..turned 18 in June and left last week .. It's been a little overwhelming ..

Hi there djmom!  I just joined this group and wanted to let you know you are not alone out there.  I will be thinking good thoughts for you and your son as he leaves tomorrow for Boot Camp.

My son leaves in two days and I completely understand that we may both be feeling the same way.

All my thoughts and wishes

Good (bittersweet) Morning to you djmom! I dropped my daughter off at her recruiter's 2 hours ago. I will head over to watch her be sworn in about an hour from now then follow along to the airport to say final good byes... Not sure if it's completely hit me yet. a little teary eyed but she was so excited ( how do you bawl when they're that amped?) Fortunately we don't live too far from MEPS and her recruiter's office so she was able to sleep at home last night. Stay strong! We're in Phoenix, but will be heading to PIR so hopefully will be able to meet there!
