Hi Deirdre. I am not sure yet on which meet & greet; I need to spend some time looking up the info for that. :)   We will be driving up to PIR on August 23rd (we are from Indiana so it is only a few hours away) and I hope to get there sometime in the late afternoon.

Yes, I agree @ sharing this information with others. I will post a message on the main forum for all to see. hehe..

Thank you Joshmom i canceled my reservation too.

Me too. So grateful for people posting informative info. Now we're at the Marriott. Anyone else planning on attending any of the 'meet and greet' events on 8/23? Would like to meet some wonderful moms!

Hi, I wanted to share some information with everyone regarding some really bad hotel reviews that I read. My son's PIR is August 24th and I initially had a reservation for the Ramada @ Waukegan but one of the other mom's in my son's division had mentioned reading bad reviews so I decided to check them out. YUCK!!! This hotel has absolutely terrible reviews on both Expedia and Trip Advisor. Also, it is note-worthy to let all the mom's know that this hotel is also listed on the Bed Bug Registry.

I have pasted a few of the reviews as well that were posted on Trip Advisor below. Granted, I am well aware that some people get mad about something silly and will post bad reviews on places just out of spite but... there were MANY very similar reviews for this particular hotel. Just be warned.

“Worst hotel ever!!!!!!!”

Ok first off, we made our reservations 3 weeks ago. Upon arrival, we found bed bugs on our bed, the hot tub was broken, we never got our rollaway because they were a "first come first serve" basis - we were rudly informed of this the next day, we couldnt sleep due to guests blasting music till 330 am, the hotel smelled pretty bad, there were no extra towels - we had to take them off the cart in the hallway, all in all - DO NOT STAY! The staff is rude and unhelpful, we were highly dissapointed. I grew up in this area, and was in visiting family. I can remember when it was a very sought after place to get a room."

We were just their for our sons Naval graduation, we were there for five days, on the third day I swear my husband got bit by bed bugs on his ankles. They don't clean thoroughly especially the bathroom. When we arrived home , our youngest daughter had head lice..the next time were in Waukegan we will look elsewhere. The resturant hours was posted and no staff in sight and a maintenance worker was going to look for the staff, we waited but 10 min is too late so we went down the road to eat. The pool was not what we've expected, the water was warm and the doors were open during a heatwave so it was very muggy even to swim. When you need housekeeping the phone just rings , we had to go to the front desk to get help. The front desk guy had no personality and seemed very bland knowlingly that he is in the customer service position, he should of been more friendly. The smell in the hotel seemed like some fowl incence. Should of looked harder at other area hotels- Gurnee looks good . At least there is a mall and a varitey of resturants."

Needless to say, I have changed our reservations to the Courtyard by Marriott.

Josh's Mom:

Thank you so much for the post on the Ramada... I just changed mine to the Courtyard..

Phew!!! Can't wait to meet all the wonderful Moms staying at the Courtyard..

Just a few more weeks!!! woo hoo!!!!

Hi All,

Just wanted to mention that I order the Coin (I believe mentioned by Craig) in one of the other post.  It came today..just a few days after placing my order.

I am so glad I got this for my son.  He will love it.. it's the JFK ship 9 and the detail is amazing.  It so much more than than what I was expecting...... very happy with the purchase.

Can you repost the website you ordered it from? I ordered some today, but I didn't see the JFK ship 9 coin, I would like to get it also. Thanks!

I went on ebay and searched under  RTC challenge coins.  Which website did you use?

I also order the Tee-Shirts for DIV 268 - from www.usnavytees.com.  I order one for my son (of course), my husband, daughter and myself.   They were great with responding right away with my questions on the correct size to order.

Thanks! I ordered the shirts also. Still didn't find the coins, but I'm going to keep checking.

Try searching as Navy-Recruit-Training-Command-Challenge-Coin-USS-John-F-Kennedy-Ship-9

Found it. Thank you so much!!
