I keep seeing running lists of dates that kids are leaving and I really wanted to connect with other people whose kids are leaving at the same time my son is. So, if you have a child leaving either August 1st or 2nd, post here and let's keep each other up todate on progress.
Thanks,
Carol

Hi Carol, My son is has to report to MEPS in Chandler, AZ Wed Aug 1st at 4pm where he is being put up in a hotel next to the MEPS in Phx, where he will report at 5am on Aug 2nd for a mini physical and then his swearing in at 9 am. We are allowed to attend the swearing in, but I was told we would not be able to go to the airport with him? Heck, I am not even sure what time they go to the airport. Not a lot of info has come my way. My son is very laid back and doesn't ask a lot of questions, unlike me. I still have so many more unanswered questions and hope to get answers on this site.
Carol,
Check with your recruiter.. we are attending the swearing in and then going to the airport.( Meeting him there, he has to go on the bus) The airport will give you a fake boarding pass, you will still have to go through security, and then you can go back through the gate. This is a courtesy the airports allow family members of Military.... So check in to it.
Hi Shanna,
My SR leaves tomorrow morning for GL.....and I wish I could say I was doing well. I'M A MESS!! I thought it would be easier having sent my oldest out of State to college 2 years ago... No.. It isn't helping that I can see that he is a bit nervous, I have never seen him nervous!! How can you be so proud and excited for someone and scared and sad at the same time? LOL... good luck to you and your SR.. I'll be thinking of you.
Hello ladies,
My son leaves tomorrow at 5 AM from Phoenix for GL. Our family is having dinner together tonight...his choice. He hasn't even decided where yet! He doesn't seem nervous at all, I think after all the waiting, he's ready to go. I think having him feel more confident in his decision is making this whole process a lot easier for me. Hang in there!
Good luck to you and your SR. My son has chosen "Melting Pot" in Scottsdale as his last supper choice. LOL!
My daughter leaves on August 1. I just dropped her off an hour ago at our local recruiters' office and they're headed to St. Louis right now and should leave there tomorrow morning for Great Lakes. Can't wait to get her phone call to know she made it and is safe. My son enlisted in the Navy 2 years ago, but had to leave bootcamp for medical issues. So at least I have a small idea of what will happen in the next few days. I
My son left from St. Louis on the 1st! Got his call that evening around 7:30 pm, sounded very scripted. Did yours?
