Hello All,

Just wanted to say Hi and introduce myself.  My name is John and my 18 year old son signed up a few months ago while still in High School, but just left one week ago.  I'm very proud of him and looking forward to seeing him grow with the path he has chosen.  I do miss him a lot though.  It's only been a week, but going from seeing and talking to him every day to nothing is hard. I see his car in my drive as I'm coming home and for a second I think he is home.  I look forward to when I get his address so we can start writing and hearing all about his experiences he is having.

Well I know that I'm a Dad and this was a site for Mom's, and I want thank my sons mom for sending me the link to the site and thank all of you for having a site that is so full of information and a place to talk to others that are going through the same things.

Go Navy!!

Dads are welcome too!!!! We are happy to have you here.

Glad you are here!! You will find lots of useful information and maybe connect with some who have recruits in the same graduating class as your son. My son left 8/2. Welcome!
My husband left 8/2 also and is 1 week in. We have a group for loved ones of those who left on aug 1st and 2nd if you'd like someone will gladly send you the link
I'm in that group too I think.

Hi Dreamer1118,  My son arrived at boot camp on Aug 1st and "Yes" I would love to have that link if you wouldn't mind sending it to me.  Look forward to hearing from you.

We have some great guys. Can always use more. Just browse around the site.  Go the MAIN and see the featured discussion in the middle column. In the Survival Guide, you'll see links to groups, vidoes, diagrams, explanations and lots of great info. We'll look forward to hearing more about you and your recruit.

Here is the link for what should be your PIR group. (clickable)

All my best to you - I know it must be hard. I had many of the same feelings when my daughter left for college, and soon I will have something in common with you as we wave goodbye her as she leaves with the Navy. She was just accepted in the Nuclear Propulsion Officer Candidate Program on Tuesday of this week and she will be shipping out to OCS in a couple months. I am thrilled, proud, scared, nervous, and already missing her. I think this will be a great site for "newbie" parents like us. I wish you and your son the best as he begins to pursue his life as an adult in the US military. I know you are standing tall right now!! (even if you are clutching a tissue in one hand!!)

Hi NupocMom,

BunkerQB here from the San Fran group. Don't know if you remember or not but I am the one with the (former) sailor who was a nuke officer on a sub. He finished his 5 year commitment and is home permanently. Best of luck to you. BTW, there is a meet and greet in Brentwood on Aug 19 - go to the San Fran page for more info.

Thanks BunkerQB - I will check out the date and see if I can attend. Yes, I remembered your son was on a nuke sub. Hope he had a good experience, be interested in hearing about his next move.

Thanks to all the responses.  I have been traveling over the last couple of days and first chance to reply. My son arrived at boot camp on August 1st and we have just received his mailing address, so looking forward to writing him and finding out how he is doing. Dreamer1118 - I would love to get that link. Not sure if you will see this response, so i will also reply back to your comment.  Looking forward to talking and listening to you all.
