I never received a phone call so you're one up on me. I am sorry to hear they are not working well together. Does this include their brother division 288, as well, since they train together? My SR is in 288 and has not mentioned anything like this issue in her letters...

Ladies,

Illness is common in BC...actually everything I have read on the web says it is common for basic training for all branches and to expect it. My Seabee was sick all of BC up until the last week or so (had pneumonia but only had a few days SIQ for it...the other two times ran a fever which they then treat as well)...he struggled to get that run...but he did! So, I will be praying for speedy recoveries for any that are ill!

As far as the not doing well...let's seee...this Divison is probably around the middle of week four...so yes, inspections and tests...Hell Week...after this you should see a turn around in your letters as they do start to "get it" and work better as a team. The yelling slows down as their isn't as much to yell at them about. There will always be talkers though :-(.

Try not to be too nervous... any setbacks in training are done on an individual basis...not on a divisional one. Keep thinking positively about your recruits! They'll be fine and I am hoping your next "contact" will reflect that!

I haven't received any of that in letters either but we do know that 288 got in trouble and couldn't make their phone call. I would hope they were starting to work as a team. The phone call will eventually come, I hope.
Hi Sharbear- have you received any other news from your SR?
I got the 2nd letter but no phone call. He is sick but again his letters are funny so I know his spirit is ok. He gave me the name of his bunkmate and was hoping to meet the mom but I posted something on here and got no response but not everyone has found this site unfortunately.

Here's to crossing my fingers that 288 ends up getting their call.

I know my husband mentioned there was a lot of talkers and people still not maturing up. hopefully after hell week is over a lot of that will stop. I know he mentioned they got the most 'hits' out of all the divisions during one inspections :( He even mentioned someone had hid their snuck from the galley food wrappers in another's bunk! Horrible!!

on the up  side though, he mentioned that during a test alot did better with the help of the study groups they formed. so yay to our Div's!! <3

On the illness note: Husband mentioned he had to go to medical cause he was feeling ill(dang man actually apologized for getting sick!! He's lucky my arm can't reach the back of his head from here xP ) But that he felt alot better afterwards. So hopefully that should mean all our SR's are pepping back up after a short trip and not having to stay in medical.

Last note, my brag since i just found out... My SR made Petty Educational Officer for his Div! *happy dance*

Yaay on your brag! Hopefully he is doing well with that! I know that's an extreme responosibility. I hear if anyone fails tests, quite often that PO is "punished" or changed. I really hope he is doing well with the SRs.

Am hoping he can help my SR. She says she wasn't confident on her meorization tests, or things they were learning. She passed her personal, but alas, failed the rack inspection. She says that's always bad the first time around...

Do you know she got a demerit for opening door for a PO??? And got yelled at for carrying around flash cards to study??? It's called "gear adrift." Thankfully, she states she's only received one demerit and doesn't plan on getting anymore!

Wow you know alot more than me. My SR only answers questions that I ask him, I know he's sick and I know the peanut butter shot sucked but that's about it. He's made many friends which makes me happy but maybe the next letter will tell me more :)
Ladies with SRs in ship 09- great PIR gift on ebay: challenge coin for the JFK. Only 9 left! Cost 17.95 free shipping! Item # 140822647292 (i think). What a great way to remember BC :) I just purchased one.

Thanks happyfeet, I just bought one of the coins. My SR said that they would get to be making phone callls in this last letter that was dated Aug 5th.  Guess not this week. Still waiting..

Aren't the coins nice? And seems like a quick turn around time. I'm not banking on any phone calls til around Sept something...the I'm a sailor call, hopefully. I am happy with my letters.

Does anyone know what the weapons officer does?
