For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

3 week call... very discouraging.
My SR called me about 30 minutes ago... From the second I answered the phone I knew something wasn't right,.....
He stated he has to go for an Asthma test on the 29th and if they feel he has it, he will be sent home immediately.... He was almost in tears and my heart is breaking for him. The Navy has been his dream since he was a kid......
He had some minor wheezing as a small child, outgrew it, never really had a Dx from the Dr, but on occasion (maybe once a year) he wheezes with strenuous exertion and it passes after a few minutes....
We were upfront and honest with the recruiter about this and he was sent to a pulmonologist prior to being accepted in to DEPS and he was given a clean bill of health.. and this was MY Dr.. not the Military Dr. He was put through several different exams, and studies, asthma was ruled out....
So, now it's a waiting game..
this last three weeks has just (Sorry) sucked...
My baby left for boot camp, I had to have emergency neck surgery that has me laid up for 8 weeks, my daughter left for college 3 states away today and now the dreaded phone call that I have been waiting for that was supposed to be a good call!.. UGH
I think there is a country song in there somewhere...
I'm just venting. I hope all of your calls were better than mine.

I tell him that in every single letter...almost word for word....
I think I am just feeling sorry for myself lately....and I need to quit! After losing my job, both kids going away and this stupid surgery, I feel like I am going stir crazy...and I can't even leave the house now..LOL...

Navyknit22 - After that much time...I would feel the same way! Since he will go to the THU (Temporary Holding Unit) he may be there for a little while. I do know one mom...Patrick's Mom, she's still on the RCU Group helping out...bless her heart...who went to visit her son in G L after he became a Sailor. He was in holding for about a week before he was shipped out...so she went for the weekend after he passed BS21. When they are in THU at RTC GL...they can have their cell phones and use them after certain hours of the day. During the week days they are given a job or jobs to do while they are in holding as well as prepping to go to their A school.
Don't know exactly how much time your son will have after BS21 and of course it depends on funds and time and such...but just a thought! Contact her and I am sure she will be glad to share her experience with you! -

If it makes ya feel any better, mine stunk too! I could barely hear his voice not to mention it was 1:45am his time and I knew he would have only 3 hours sleep.... i am trying to cut his wings and its killing me. hahahah still have nto heard from him other than the first night's call "I made it".

Colleen, sending some xanax your way...kidding I have been a bit out of the loop with an ill elderly father and out of town beause of it...i read your posting this morning...oh my goodness you have a lot on your plate. When it rains it pours i guess i am sure that doesn't help. I will be praying that things work out well and will be thinking positive thoughts...usually as a Mom not sure about all of you other ones but i will send myself into a HUGE FRENZY and just keeping thinking the worst, climbing the walls, the whole nine yards...and then so far 99.99% of the time, all that worrying for nothing. I hope you hear something soon and can find some kind of peace in waiting to hear the outcome...and he has disappointed nobody. NO matter what happens the main thing is you have healthy children and thats worth its weight in gold no matter what they are doing! I am sure i dont have to tell you that just trying to give you positive things to ponder because i know in times like this you get despaired easily. Please keep all of us posted on whats going on and i can see you have a huge follwoing here as we all care what happens to our Navy Moms and our precious sons/daughters! Biggest Hugs!!!

I had been waiting ever so patiently for my son's first phone call home 3 weeks into Boot Campthis past wednesday) only to find out that my ringer was shut off and I missed his phone call. He left me a nice message but needless to say I was defestated. He didn't say much at all. I got a letter today and in his letter he briefly mentions he had his 4 wisdom teeth pulled and he was SIQ(sick in quarters) for 2 day and then put on limited duty...you would think that would be important enough to leave on the message.

Not important to the navy. Pulling wisdom teeth if they see a potential problem down the road while out at sea or on a deployment. When my son went through BC around 40 SR's had wisdom teeth pulled and he told us they got 2 day siq and ibuprofen. Our son thanked us over and over in his letter to us for having his done when he was 16. Sure he didn't want to go but we talked him into doing it and told him to get it done and over. Was he ever glad about us having it done. Your son probably didn't want you to worry about his teeth being pulled so he waited to write it his letter. What a good son for not wanting to worry his mom.
Sorry you missed his phone call. I hate when something stupid like that happens and you find out after the fact. Maybe he will get to make another phone call home. :)
