I've been with my boyfriend for almost three years and I have many concerns. I know about all the curfews and rules for A-School, as I visited him several times when he was in Pensacola. My concerns now are running through my heard about him living in the barracks on the Yokosuka Naval Base in Japan. I tried googling everywhere about certain questions and I can't seem to find the answers. He is an E-1 and in the Aviation section (ABH to be exact). I just would like to know, how often he'll be able to get on his computer and email me. Is there any type of cellular service over there, where he could have his own phone and be able to call and text me here in the states. Also, I know they cannot move off base until they are an E-4, so I was just wondering if they had any curfews during the weekend and weekdays. Also, all of my friends keep concerning me with military cheating stories. So, because I'm a girl, I'm gonna worry about my man being around all those single guys while on deployment. Is it true about all they do on deployments on the weekends is go out and sleep with women. I just would like to hear from other military wives and girlfriends who known the rules about the navy barracks and all of that stuff. Please and Thanks ladies

Can't answer most of your questions, however, something you need to keep in mind as he's going to be away from you for quite some time.

If he's going to cheat, he's going to cheat. Doesn't matter too much where he's located.

Same is true if he's not going to cheat.

If you're not going to trust him not to cheat, you're probably better off breaking up with him because you're going to drive yourself (and quite possibly him) crazy with all your doubts.

In other words, from where you are sitting, you need to decide if you trust him or not.

Just my opinion though.

He must buy a cell phone in Japan, and can find apps which will allow free texting.  He can skype if he has a laptop with a camera.  Some of the Japan moms use Magic Jack, but I don't know how it works. His American cellphone won't work, the roaming international charges would run hundreds or thousands of dollars.  There is no wifi in the barracks, but there are places on base he can go (I don't know where specifically, I was in Yokosuka in the Dark Ages).  His schedule will be something like 13 hours opposite of yours, so don't expect much communication on a regular basis.  He can't call or text while at work or on duty.

The base had no curfews for shore duty sailors when I was there, but I believe they must have liberty buddies now.  His command sets the curfew if there is one.  If he is on a ship, he will have a liberty curfew and will have to earn his privileges, much like A school. They have to be an E-5 to move offbase in Yokosuka.  Very expensive, even with the allowances.

Deployments are when ships go out to sea for a long mission, several months or more.  So I'm not sure what you mean. Your guy isn't "deployed" because he's overseas, he just has overseas orders.  If he's with a squadron, he might deploy for months with a carrier.  Then he might get to visit foreign ports, and may be tempted by "working girls".  If so, he's a sleazeball not worth your time.  But it is HIM, not his buddies, not the girls.  So you either know him well enough to think he'd cheat or you don't know his character well enough to trust him.

On shore duty, weekends are just that, weekends.  And I have a newsflash for you, if you aren't married, he IS a single guy.  There are women all over the world, so he can cheat anywhere, anytime, if it is in his nature to do so.  Japanese girls are cute and fun, but most aren't hookers.   They're nice girls for the most part.  I've found nice girls are more of a threat because a guy gets emotionally interested before anything physical happens.  Guys don't dump their hometown girlfriends for streetwalkers and bar girls, they dump them for new girlfriends.  Seen that more than once, but I've also seen very serious relationships withstand separation for years.

As for cheating, either he will or he won't.  Either you trust him or you become a crazy woman.

I am currently in Yokosuka, he is able to buy a laptop and cell phone as soon as he arrives... laptops with batteries that are not removable cannot be mailed. Softbank (cell compnay) has a kiosk at the Main NEX, Magic Jack works great and its free! Also as stated before, if he is going to cheat it doesnt matter how far ya'll are, but due to the recent happenings in Okinawa all service members are under a curfew from 2300-0500 every day! Also if he does decide to sleep around I am sure I will see him in my clinic for counseling! JK!
