Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

On hold for A school?
Hello - I just joined Navy for Moms last week. My son had his PIR 8/24 and was supposed to start A school this week; however, he let me know a few days ago after INDOC that he was on hold, he thought because the STG school was full. Can you tell me if this is a common occurrence?

My son was also on hold after bootcamp. He graduated 7/20/12. He didn't start "A" school for a few weeks. I think it was at least two weeks, maybe a little more.

Hi sailormama74, my son also graduated on 8/24 and is on hold as well. He said that they are cleaning, in the meantime. :) Hopefully they get started with their schooling soon though.

Yes, he will be on hold before ATT starts. He'll also be on hold when he's finished with A school. Seems there's a lot of wasted time spent waiting to move on.
He'll be doing a lot of cleaning and guard duty.

thank you for the replies, everyone. He is doing lots of cleaning and guard duty, but they also seem to get extra liberty time so he's good with that part of it. :) He did find out they are waiting on more recruits in his rank to finish basic before starting school.
