Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

So we are in San Diego where I've lived my entire life and where I met my husband. We just recently got orders to Everett, WA. He graduates on the 12th and he has to report to the ship by the 27th of this month. I have no clue as to what needs to be done before we move. On top of not having a place to move to. We plan on moving ourselves, which would be out of pocket, I'm just not sure if the Navy would reimburse us since we don't know what to do and I'm sure it's too late to do anything about it. I'm just overly stressed out now.

Wish I could help you, I really don't know anything about that kind of experience, but doesn't your Navy base have a family center with advisers that help in situations like this?  That is my understanding that you and your husband can get all these questions answered from them.  I don't know what its called - family resource center or ??

There are some great moms here that maybe can answer your questions - so let's hope they respond. Meanwhile, you might want to post your question in our main discussion forum where many of us check in daily--your question might be a little "buried" here in this "separate discussion" you've created.

to get to the main discussion page:  up near your picture of the two of you, on this page....click on the arrow BACK to Washington & Oregon Discussions, then click on arrow AGAIN  when it appears, and then you'll be at the Main discussion page for Washington & Oregon.  post your question there.  (Also for some late night reading: toward the top of that Wa & Or Main Discussion page you'll see lists of discussion themes--click on "see all" -- there are about 4 pages, and I'm sure there's some info about moving up here)

Good Luck and Welcome to Washington State  (soon-to-be)

My daughter moved from San Diego to Everett last August. I know someone, a mentor or whatever they are called, gave her some information before arrival. And I agree with other gal, u should be able to get real info from family svcs. Good luck up there...daughter seems to like it;-). What ship? She is on the Shoup.
Do take some deep breaths and relax. Be sure to keep all receipts having to do with the move for tax purposes. You guy will be fine, it seems scarier than it is. And remember to get on all navy websites such as this one.....good for info and venting and knowing u are not alone!
Thanks a bunch!! Monday I'll see about talking to someone. Just can't wait until this is over with. He will also be on the USS Shoup. I really appreciate the advice.
I'm in Everett if you ever need anyone to talk to I'm a stay at home mom almost always bored and home!
