For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Husband Leaves for Basic Training Soon
Hello
I am new to all of this and the time for him to leave is coming too quickly for me. This past week its not just a thought anymore, its reality. We have known each other since we were five. We started dating at the age of twelve. Ever since then we couldn't be separated. Then we had a child 4 years later and he moved in. There hasn't been a day that goes by in years that I haven't been in his arms. I'm really worried how I'm gonna take it. I mean, even now when he goes to work he will send me texts through out the day. Its great and all that we are still completely in love but I'm starting to worry. I'm trying to hide it from him because I want to support him, and don't want him to worry about me. Any advice or things to get ready for? I'm going into the dark on this. I know nothing about whats going to happen and what to do or wait for.

i am pretty new to this too, but hang arond and ask other girlfriends what they are doing to prepare.
my sailor and i are older and we're both divorced, so my issues are different than yours.
worrying isn't good for you or for child. so i would see if you can connect face to face with other moms with husbands going into NAVY. check with his recruiter, and see what they suggest. this support group helps a lot too. good luck to you both.

Boot camp is hard, I'm not going to lie, but you will get through it. Stay busy! That is the best advise I can offer. Oh and my husband had a really sweet idea and pre-recorded videos for me to watch while he was gone. I had one each week. That really helped a lot especially since it took a while to get his first letter. And write him as much as possible. It's hard for us, and it is SO hard for them. Those letters will be lifelines for you both. Hang in there and enjoy every moment you have before he leaves. :)
