Don't count days, count weeks. Also, watch the videos showing what they go through. It makes it easier when you see what they are experiencing. And keep in mind, they're safer at RTC than in some college dorm.
Super great advice Emma, I took my son to the recruiters this morning to send him off, Ive been down all day, but it is selfish. I held back my tears until i got in the car. I just spoke with him, he is in the hotel in Phoenix going to bed early to get to MEPS in the morning get sworn in, then airplane to GL. Looking so forward to seeing him around thanksgiving....................... We are here for encouragement support and information. And thanks to everyone on this fantastic site. Katie
You and your son will get through the hard times.....him being away from home and family and you being away from him. I know how hard it is. My son has been in the Navy for over two years, and I think bootcamp was one of the hardest times for us both. Just hang in there. You'll find moms (on this site) with their children in boatcamp the same time your son is in bootcamp. You'll be able to connect with moms that have kids in the same division as your son. I'm sure you will find support and comfort through them, as I did in the past. I know you, family and friends will write your son while he is in bootcamp. And even thought he might not always have the time to respond...just keep the letters to him coming. As my son once said letters in bootcamp are golden. lol One word of advice do not send any musical cards in bootcamp. One mother did and her son and his division had to do extra push ups and other physical training. I hope I've helped a little. Stay strong and stay proud Navy mom. God Bless you and yours
