My daughter Taylor just arrived at O'Hare, she called me from her cell phone and said they told them to go ahead and call home. I could hear a lot of business in the back ground. She seemd excited. . .
Ugh. . .

I'm excited for you. I'm sure that was the sweetest voice you heard. My son left today as well. Have not received a call yet. He did not take his cell phone. But he has his phone card. I hope he calls soon. God Bless
Thanks, she called again about 10:15 Alabama time, she said "I'm here, I'm fine, will call in three weeks". It was strange. . .Have you heard from your son?
Yes I got my call last night at 11:55. It was a short call but to here his voice was the grestest thing. I slept with a smile on my face. He said he'll get to call back in about 3 weeks. Thank you for asking
I received my call at 11:57 from Jacob on his cell phone! He said he would call in two weeks, but if both of you were told 3 weeks, then I think he was confused! Glad we heard from them!
Hi welcome to the site.
Thanks, Cindy! I sent you an e-mail. Hope you holding up!!
I am waiting for a phone call from my daughter she texted me from a friends phone saying she will call me soon I havent heard from her yet. She left her phone at home but has a calling card.
Welcome to Navy 4 Mom's (and Dad's)!! Don't expect any phone calls at any specific time. Some recruits have RDC's that don't allow phone calls...some use phone calls as awards. IF your son/daughter has a boyfriend/girlfriend, ANY calls will most likely go to them, not home! I got the 30 second, "I'm here, I'm fine, I love you" call...and then didn't hear from my son again until he passed battlestations at the very END of bc. Yes, his calls went to his gf, who is now his wife.
Try not to try and make sense of most of the 8 weeks your son/daughter are in bc. Trust me, the Military does things their own way and could care less if your planning on driving 5,000 miles roundtrip for PIR (Graduation).
There are some awesome posts that are new and put together by some of our "Veteran" parent's. Take the time to read then, and most of your questions should be answered. Go to the main page and look for posts for newbie parent's.
Again, welcome!
