While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Alwayssmile - when your son calls you, he will be able to tell you. The only bad thing about this division is they don't walk through the big doors at graduation like the other divisions do. Kinda disappointed but I was able to get a glimpse of my son before graduation and it was the hardest thing not to run up to him and give him a big hug and kiss, but we gave each other a huge smile and look!! :) My husband was so mad at me because i went to the ladies room and that is when I saw him!! Go to graduation it is such an ahhhhh moment. Good Luck to your son and your family.

Thank you for letting me know this so hard not knowing what is going on...Oh I will be there!! we only live an hour 1/2 away...will i be able to bring him home he is staying at GL for his A-school Mechanical Engineer...from what i understand he can but i have to have him back by 10 fri sat and sun but i can go get him sat and sun morning??? is this correct to your knowledge?

I am not sure about this - after graduation we were able to take my son but had to return him by 8:00 pm that night. he left the next day for Pensacola so we went to the airport to spend the few hours there with him. Your lucky he is going to be staying there you will get to see him on the weekends!! My son is now in CA and we live in NY. Write to your son as often as you can they really appreciate the letters. My son was envied at BC because I wrote him letters everyday and even wrote to some of the others because they weren't receiving as many!! :)

901 is a performing division. My son was in 901 when he was in BC a year ago--he had been in AFJROTC all 4 years of high school so they know, basically, what's expected of them in a military environment (they know how to march and follow orders). Congrats on 901! (The email I got from someone at RTC when I couldn't figure out if my son had written 901 or 401 was that "901 is a big deal")

My son was in Air Force Jr. ROTC during high school (the nearest Navy JROTC was 25 miles away). Performing means they will carry the state flags/hold open doors/direct people/staff the "medical" area (for any recruits that might faint during PIR--locked knees do it every time!). Towermom is right--they don't march in like all the other divisions but they play a VERY important part during the ceremony. Just take a breath...there are lots of docs here on N4M that can answer lots of your questions. I also "stalked" RTC's Facebook page while my son was there. Lots and lots and lots of info...before you ask a lot of questions, look at the docs and see what you can find. It will help to put your mind at ease. I have no doubt that your son is doing fine--mine said the first 2 weeks were absolute hell, but then it got a LOT easier! Just remember to breathe!

I didn't know what the 900 division was and I asked someone who had gone through BC before and could tell us about it. Mine son loved the division, he really liked all the guys that were in his division and is still communicating with many of them. It is a performance division but there are many roles.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I am happy he is going to be close and now im learning so much about what he is doing i can't wait for PIR I am so proud of him thats why i cry everyday because the man he has chosen to be without a full time father in his life i am just so proud!!

I also wrote my son every day--actually twice a day, morning and night. They were just chatty kind of letters. I always reminded him how incredibly proud I am of him. I didn't overly share how much I was missing him, that would have been too hard on him. I talked about the cat, cleaning his room (he LOVED that), shared about work, the neighbors, just really chatty stuff. He also got comments because he got so much mail. There are some really cool questionairres on this site that you can send--that way he doesn't have to "write a lot" and can just as questions...some are just fun kinds, some are really asking for info. If he doesn't have a phone card, get one for him but make sure to activate it BEFORE you send it. Just always remind him of your pride in him and your love for him. Unfortunately, my son told me about instances where the RDC's would pick on someone that didn't get much/any mail and tell them that their family obviously didn't love them. I was completely furious when I heard that, but there was nothing I could do about it. I did send my son "generic" letters for him to give to anyone that wasn't receiving anything. He said it helped a lot!

I do write everyday i just mailed stamps today forgot to do that when i first got is address i put 7 letters in the mail that day. he has a phone card gave him that before he left. i will go on fb page for RTC i did join the 900 division on fb awaiting approval for that. thank you!

Have you received your box from your son!! My husband and I bawled when we got it - I didn't wash his shirt until I came home from graduation - (my husband said that was going overboard, but he had his deodorant and cologne on his shirt) LOL. I almost missed my sons phone call, I was on the golf course golfing but THANK GOD i kept it off vibrate that day!! It is so exciting to hear from them. Keep your head up and be proud!! Good Luck

yes, i received it 2 days after he left. well, my daughter put it in garage when she got home from school and then saturday i was looking out the door and she asked what i was looking for and i said well im waiting for your brothers box and thats when she said oh mom there was a box on front porch the other day and i forgot about it...it had tylers name writen all over it...i freaked opened it and I wear his sweatshirt everyday when i get home from work! lol, do you remember when the first call from him came in? i have my cell on me all the time im a dental hygienist and i just tell my patients if my phone rings i have to answer because i don't know if its tyler or not. do you think it will be a 800 number??
