I'm super excited that my son has sworn in and has a Boot Camp Report Date of September 26, 2012. I hope that through this site I can meet other moms who will also have sons and daughters that will be there at the same time.

Have you heard any news from your son yet?

We received his "send home" box yesterday and got his PIR letter today. Hes Ship 13 Div 016 and graduates the day after Thanksgiving....anyone else have those for their child(ren)..let me know..thanks

I live about 2 hours from Great Lakes and I have heard nothing yet! Good Lord what is the hold up? LOL. I did get a heart thumping phone call on Sunday from him...needed his ped's doctors name for paperwork. It was a 20 second phone call, but it was good to hear his voice. The pay phones stink, the sound is so bad on them! Be prepared to have complete silence in your homes when you do get that call or you won't hear them.

Thanks for letting me know.  I want to buy my ticket tomorrow.  Even tho the recruiter told me the graduation date I still wonder if he is totally correct.  Let me know if you hear anything please.  I Love this website.  It really helps me a lot and brings the miltary world together..

Where are you from?  My son left too on the 26th from San Diego California.. His recruiter told me because of the Thanksgiving Holiday that the PIR was on Wed the day before Thanksgiving.  I bought my airline ticket last night.. In just calling hotels they are filling up fast.  I hope my sons is Wed like I was told.  We received his box yesterday but no letter as of today.

We live in washington state. We weren't told by the recruiters anything of his PIR date but we did get the PIR letter today and it said that his grad date is 23 NOV 12  It says nothing of the holiday so I have no clue..I'm flying blind LOL

Well thanks for letting me know.. I hope I get my letter tomorrow... I just hope since I have purchased the ticket that I will be ok.. I might be spending Thanksgiving by myself in Chicago..

Debnchris, you won't be spending tine alone I and my son will be there with you.

awwwww Thank You so much.

I just remembered on another forum here I saw that someone had written to Great Lakes and ther 23rd was a misprint.  I will look for the forum and try to cut and copy it for you.

Thanks if you find it. That is great. So who would I contact to verify if its a misprint or not?   They should really send out a new PIR letter to everyone they gave that date to. Yikes.

This is the email that was posted in the bootcamp forum by lemonelephant:

Don't stress out. The form letter is WRONG. I emailed the PAO at the RTC and received the following reply:

Ma'am,

The Thanksgiving graduation will take place on Wednesday, 21 November.

If you have made reservations, change them so you don't miss PIR! I emailed him to inform him that I know of at least 3 moms who received the form letter with the incorrect date, so I am certain it will be addressed if it hasn't already.
