I received my son's address from his recruiter. He is on Ship 13, Div 021. Hope to get my formal letter tomorrow or later this week.

Double-check the address the recruiter gave you against those at http://bootcamp.navy.mil/contact_recruit.asp.  Recruiters sometimes give a generic address for the RTC and if the street address is not correct, then mail can be delayed for up to 3 weeks. Know that letters mailed before you get the form letter do not get to your recruit much quicker, if at all, than letters mailed after receiving the form letter because the recruits cannot receive mail until they are in their ship and a Recruit Mail Petty Officer has been trained in how to handle mail, which means it is usually sometime in the third week or later when they start receiving mail depending on when P-days ended and the division formed.

Know that Divisions 021 and 022 are brother divisions and train together and will have Battle Stations-21 together, so look for others with loved ones in either division.

What is the PIR date?

My son is also in division 011. Where is your son going to school after boot?

he will be staying in great lakes

OMG my ex got the letter today... I am so excited except it says that the PIR is Nov 23 the day after Thanksgiving .. His recruiter had told me the it was the day before Thanksgiving, and luckly lemonelephant put on this website that the 23rd is an error.. So I still am confident that it is the day before Thanksgiving.. and he is calling the recruiter to only hear him tell him that in the computer the PIR date is the 21.... He is in div 016....my ex is scanning me the letter tomorrow.. (I HOPE).. I have a letter to mail out and have to wait to receive the scan..I miss my son and can not believe that I will really be having Thanksgiving with him... Life is Good.....

I'm glad it came.

Join the group, PIR 11/21/2012 TG 02 – 11 Divisions (009-018 & 902), to connect with others with loved ones training with your SR.  Know that Divisions 015 and 016 are brother divisions and train together and will have Battle Stations-21 together, so look for others with loved ones in either division.  There will be a discussion within that group for the two divisions.

We will be driving from Rhode Island. Should be leaving on Sunday arriving Monday evening. Will you attending the meet-n-greet? I would love be able to meet all the moms in person.

I am flying in from California around noon on Tuesday.  I will be at the meet at greet.  I talked to Sarge yesterday, and he said that he was doing a special on because it being before Thanksgiving.  He will be having a couple of Turkeys.. This event sounds amazing and I think that it is just wonderful what he does for US.. Even his service that he provides to pick you up at the airport.. and gets you to PIR.. He too has a wealth of information and is very happy to pass on and help our stay.
