Got my first call last night. Of all times my SRs twin and I were standing in line in the freezing cold for a concert in St. Louis, MO. But we got to talk quite a while, maybe 20 mins or so. She was crying and saying how much she hated it and wanted to come home. She will not be performing even though she's in the 952 div because she was put in there just because they  need some more people in there and thats why they were a week ahead of her and everyone had already tried out so she didn't get to. She has recieved only 1 of our letters and both her sister and I have written several times. I was crying. People in line were staring like something stupid. It turned out the girl right behind us was in the National Guard and she said she we should try to keep her in because she will be happy when she makes it. Said she was unhhappy at basic too, but after that it all got better, which is basically what I told my daughter. She quit crying during the call but started again when we had to hang up, thats when I started. She did say she had made friends with some other girls and a couple of them are also going to San Antonio for MA training so they're hoping they all graduate on time and go together

Haven't heard from my SR yet, going on 3 weeks, She is also going to SA for MA. Not sure if she is in the Band. Hope she can call soon.:(

Just wanting to see how everyones future sailor is doing.  Mine souns good in her letters.  Bootcamp seems to be pretty much what she thought it would be.  From what she is saying they are pretty busy and learning alot.  Hope all of your SRs are in good spirits and and doing well.

now, this is what i've been looking for all along!  not being snooty, by any means, but couldn't make heads or tails of what i should be pining for seeing other ships' & div's loved ones sharing what's happening on the PIRs page, calls & such.  and, the 'handles' keep me quite confused on who is who.

my girl is also ship02 div952 (duh, i know). she is hospital corpsman, going to san antonio for A school.  she did 3 yrs NJORTC, class of 2012.  in her words, she is "marrying the Navy on Nov 9th".   haven't had but one call, back on 10/5, but letters do arrive on thurs.  anyone here getting more communication than that?  she writes that basic is her 'new found hobby'.

how many going to sarge's?  looking forward to meeting her new Navy family!  happy wednesday from north carolina!

My son is the one I am here for. The only phone call other than the "I am here and safe call" was the one on 10/5 as well. It was only about 7 minutes, long enough to say we love him and miss him :) My son joined at the end of his senior year. He doesn't say much at all in his letters. He tends to talk about what I have written and this week the letter was short. He didn't have much time. I want to know more...lol. I hope they get another phone call home soon.

I've only gotten that one phone call and I wasn't even home to talk.  My husband was the lucky one there.  I have gotten a letter every week for the last 3 weeks, so that's been nice !!!  My daughter doesn't say to much in the letters but they are not crying and hate to be here letters.  She just said how really busy they are and that all and all it's not as bad as she thought it would be.  I wish so much that they could call more but the " no news is good news" thing is working for me.  Moms just keep sending the cards and letters and let them know we are there for them.  It will give them the strenght to make it.  Great news is H*** week is over.  Another big milestone has been met and we are one step closer to seeing our sailors!!!!

My SR just called, so stay by the phones.  First time I got to talk to her.  She sounds great !!

My SR called about 8...such a wonderful topping to my Saturday! Dad got his share of the voice time, too!

My daughter is in this group! EIGHT more days to graduation!! She said it's their largest graduating class!!

do the hours just seem longer the closer we get?  hoping for the "i'm a sailor" call soon, my entire being is on watch for that WAUKEGAN, IL caller id!

OMG I totally agree!! I'm trying SO hard to occupy myself so I won't think about her calling so much!! She acutally called us THREE TIMES last weekend! It was awesome to talk to her!! :)

Waukegan is an hour away for us, I think we're going to pass on the meet and greet this time. :(

Everybody at work keeps asking if I've gotten "the call" yet. They're all almost as excited as I am.
