Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

my SR left for BC 09/25/12 received the box and letter. He is on

ship 13, div. 011.  Wrote him on 10/02/12 and waiting for a response

or a phone call. Anyone else have a SR on this ship or div?

I still hear him tell me "its only 2 months mom it will be OK".

Can't wait for 11/23/12 to come.

The form letter is WRONG. PIR is Wednesday, 21 November.  See http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/upcoming_grads.asp. Join the group, PIR 11/21/2012 TG 02 – 11 Divisions (009-018 & 902), to connect with others with loved ones training with your SR.  Know that Divisions 011 and 012 are brother divisions and train together and will have Battle Stations-21 together, so look for others with loved ones in either division.  There is a discussion within that group for the two divisions.

You may also want to join, or at least check out, Boot Camp Mom's, PIR Reference Information, and New Members Stop Here.

Write to him often.  Even though he can only write on Sundays at first (maybe today for the first time), he will be able to receive mail every weekday (Monday-Friday) if it's not a holiday.  Writing will help you feel connected to him and will make his day if you are encouraging and let him know about things that are of interest to him.

You may receive an "I'm still alive!" call in week 3 or 4, but that call can be lost for any number of reasons. Don't expect a call, but do have your phone available from 8ish am to 8ish pm Central Time and be pleasantly surprised if you do receive a call.  The "I'm still alive!" or other calls the RDC schedules usually come in the mornings on weekdays because the "I'm a Sailor!" calls, which are made 1-7 days before PIR, are in the afternoon and evenings, but calls can come anytime during those hours on the weekend.  Calls for security reasons or for information are made during regular business hours.  Remember "No news is good news!"

Thank you so much for the information and the links.  You have been very helpful.

You are very welcome.

Confused on the PIR - in the letter that was sent with his box stayed grad. day was 11/23/12.  how can

i find out if this is correct.

See http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/upcoming_grads.asp.  That is the official listing from the RTC.

My son, my only child left for BC on 9/27 from NJ.  Received the box but no letter.  I miss him so much.  I hope I receive my letter soon.

did you receive the letter with his address and grad. date?  I have a 26th year old daughter, she works for the govt.

and travels with her job, so both of my children are gone.  The weekends are the worse, not so bad when im at

work because im so busy, but my son is always in my thoughts.

I hope you get a letter soon.

"God Bless"
