Hello,

I like to know if the navy for moms has a graduation funds available for families that are not able to go due to financial problems. I know that the Marines have it and they buy plane tickets for the families that are not able to attend graduation due to financial problems.

Can you let people know how far you'd have to travel to attend, is getting there by car possible?

We live in south Florida. Car is not in good enough shape to travel that far. He is in the great lakes area.

Have you checked out all possible modes of transportation? Have car wash? garage sale? bake sale? Even if only one of you can go or maybe if you even could meet someone with same PIR date who was driving maybe you could get partway to them and then carpool.  Lots of ideas to brainstorm and still plenty of time. Also saw other suggestion to ask some of your local service clubs like the Lions Club.  For me I have the income tax money saved just for this moment.  Good Luck and Do Not Give Up!!

dont give up... reserve ahead its hard but if for some reason you can reserve cause its cheaper far out and keep intouch with others here you never know you may be n someones route....good luck.

What is ur sons PIR date?

My sons PIR date is November 9th. And miracles do happen! My brother has enough frequent flyer miles to get a ticket for me and my husband to go!!! I'm so happy!! And I heard from my son other night and he informed me that he is engaged to his girlfriend of 2 years!!

So happy for you!! And congratulations to your other son and his girlfriend.

My son is at Boot Camp now and Graduates Jan.25th,2013 and i'm going through a divorce and i'm on Disability and don't have the money to go to his Graduation,Has anyone found any groups or know of anyone who helps? My son will be so hurt if i'm not there.I've tried everything and asked everyone and have came up with nothing,I just need some help,If anyone knows of anyone or any groups,Please let me know,Thank you.

No, there is no group that can help.  Individuals have helped others, but there is nothing set up.

I have started a Page, Saving Money PIR Weekend, within Boot Camp Moms that may have some ideas for you.  Some recruits have sent money (they are getting paid after all) for a family member or special someone to attend.

Join the group,PIR 01/25/2013 TG 11 - 9 Divisions (069-076 and 911), to connect with others with loved ones training with your SR. I also invite you to join Boot Camp Moms

There will be a lot of great information and support for you in those groups as well as in the PIR group. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) and Discussions within the groups.

(The Page name and group names within this reply are clickable links.)

My sons PIR is March 8th.  Not sure if you found any funding, but message me and  I would be glad to personally help you if possible.

Carol, The original poster's Sailor should have had PIR long ago (the post is from July 20, 2012) and the most recent reply was for the 01/25/2013 PIR, so that one has also had PIR.  Others may take you up on your offer though, so be prepared.
