Welcome to the discussion group for divisions 801 & 802!!!

It only happens a few times a year when there are two special ops groups in one TG.

Be very aware when posting about your SRs who are in this division. Make sure you read the OPSEC rules (everyone should).

sjtina and a couple more ladies will be joining you to answer your questions about this "800" division. Although your SR is still in BC, what they are doing may be slightly different from what the other divisions in this training group are doing. It is also recommended that you go into your "settings" (clickable link on the right side) and change your privacy setting to "private" and change everything to friends only.

Please still use the main wall to post general questions, and concerns, such as meet and greet questions etc. Specific questions regarding the 800 division should be posted here.

We “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion groups as often as we would like to, and the ladies helping out with the 800 divisions don't always get to the main wall as often as they would like.

Every single question that is asked is important
Every single concern is genuine
Every single member is important to us
We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there ladies!!!

I got a letter!!! Ok it was 30 words scribbled over a couple of days and told me nothing, but it was a letter!!!!!!! :)

Yahoo  for you!  I hope that when I get off work there is a letter waiting for me.

Yeah countrymom!! Im with you meam, I hope I have one waiting when I get home too!

Dear Katherine234, I am very happy for you! Can't wait to get home tonight and check my mailbox.

What is RPOC?

meam

Congrats! I am SO jealous. Still no letter yet.. Soon I hope!

Glad to hear letters are starting to come in. I sure remember those days of stalking the mail lady. The guys get time to write on Sunday, so Thursday is a popular mail day for most.

Be careful what information you post about specifics in your recruit's letters. The RDC's will eventually read these comments and try to link you and your recruit to basically embarrass him in front of everyone. It helps to have your page set to private, but its inevitable. I had my son's picture as my profile when he was in BC and he was one of the ones singled out. This will continue through BUDs, so its a good time to start practicing being vague.

If people in division 801 are getting letters, does that mean people in 802 should be getting letters too? Congrats to those who do!!

 Yes. sailorbaby.

Love your emoticons.......

The green eyes of jealousy might pop out...but I'll wait a couple more days to start that ;)  My SR has never  been known for his speed in writing~slowest I've ever seen and I teach.  Maybe writing will be the hardes thing he ends up doing (yea, right).  Congrats to you letter-getters.  Your enthusiasm is spreading :)  keep it up!

HELP from the 800 division!

Hey all,

My name is Craig and I'm a group moderator on all the new boot camp groups.  You will see my name on all the main PIR pages.  I am saying this just so you guys don't freak out on who I am.  The veteran moms have known me for years.

I am joining this group because I'm looking for some information about the 800's divisions.  I'm a retired Navy guys and have 5 family members that are sailors (and one traitor daughter that's Air Force ~ha) and I know all the Navy terms, so don't worry about dumbing stuff down.

Background:

I run a Navy website that helps new Navy members get ready for boot camp.  It's called http://www.NavyDEP.com

You probably have gone to my website many times since I have the info on what happens everyday at boot camp;

http://www.navydep.com/forums/showthread.php?t=433

A private company (PIRGifts) has ask me to design challenge coins for the sailors at boot camp, and write the stories about the coin (ie why I designed them the way I do).  I have nothing to do with selling them, I just design them, so don't ask if you can buy one.  All I know is they sell them on ebay.

My main purpose of doing these coins is having something that a sailor will have their whole life, unlike water bottles or t-shirts that only last a couple months, these coins will last forever (or until you lose it ~ha).  My own challenge coin collection is very big, and it kind-of ticked me off when I couldn't find a nice coin to give my own son and nephews when they graduated boot camp.

Now this is what I'm looking for:

As I said, I design challenge coins for sailors in boot camp.  The 800's division is the last coin I need to make.  I've waited and made this one last because I don't fully understand the 800 division.  Luckily for me, this group has two 800's division going at once.

1. What ratings are the sailors in 800 division?

2.  What I don't want is something that is geared only for future SEAL team guys, if they have ratings not associated with the SEAL team.

3.  I don't want to make something that is saying these sailor are SEALS, they aren't.  Boot camp is only a stepping stone to get to be a SEAL.

4.  I need other info that I haven't even thought of yet.

Lastly, I only design the coins, once I finish the design it take about 1 1/2 month for PIRGifts to contract them out and get them minted.   So you will never see the final design while your sailors are in boot camp.

Hope this makes sense to you guys.  I'm just looking for info.

Secondly, is there a facebook group that deals with the 800's divisions?

Thanks again for helping me.  Again, my main purpose is to get something that sailor would actually want and can show off to their own children later on in life.

Craig

Here is some of the coins I have designed:
