Welcome to the discussion group for divisions 023 & 024

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important
Every single concern is genuine
Every single member is important to us
We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

Still no mail or letter, We are waiting patiently. I don't think our son has ever written and sent anything via snai mail. Should  be interesting. I'm glad they are able  to leave base for Thanksgiving!  There is no way we will  be able to be there, too far away. I too hope he will take advantage of going with another SR if he gets the opportunity. When my husband was in the Navy, we would have young sailors that were single and didn't have any family nearby over for Thanksgiving and Chistmas. It also helped me out as I was homesick too.

I haven't received a letter yet either.  Checking the mailbox everyday!   My son's the same way.  I'm pretty sure he's never sent a letter via snail mail either!  As you said, should be interesting! I hope he has someone to go with on Thanksgiving as well.  Makes me really sad to think of any of them by themselves!!  By the way...my name is Ann & my son is Matt.  He's in Div. 024 & will be staying in Great Lakes for A School..  Nice to meet everyone!

Hi ANN...I am Yvonne and my daughter Lindsey is in Div 023.  She will also be staying in GLs for A school.  In a way we are very lucky because we will get to spend Friday afternoon, Saturday and Sunday with our kiddos the weekend of PIR.  There seems to be quite a few that will be staying in GL.  Maybe that will make it easier on them....already knowing someone.

And btw.....no letter today

Hi Ann & Yvonne, my name is Heike my son is John he's Div 023, he's also staying in A School in GL.

No personal letter has made it to GA yet.........Kind of a bummer that we don't live closer to GL, wish we could spend time with our SR's. But at least we get more time with them on PIR weekend, got to be positive and thankful for that! It's hard to let them grow up all the way so fast isn't it?

Hi Yvonne..  yes, you're right.  It will be great spending the whole weekend with them!  I want to spend as much time with him as possible!  I'll be coming up with Matt's sisters & his dad.  My oldest has a little one  at home (my grandson, Mason) & my middle daughter lives in Nashville & will have to be back to work on Monday so could get a little tricky. But I know they're just as anxious as his dad & I are to see him.  Matt's the baby!  SO hoping to get a letter this week!!  Hope everyone else does too!!  Have a good night!

Hey Ann. I havent gotten a letter either. Mail came today already and nothing. My son Geoff is in 024 as well and will stay in Great Lakes. I am going to be heading up there for Thanksgiving and just stay for the week. I grew up there. Cant wait to get a letter.

Has anyone gotten information regarding what they are doing?  I'm not 100% sure, but I think this week is Seamanship Training, next week Weapons, then Fire Fighting then Battleship.  I haven't gotten a letter yet, this is just based on my other SR's schedule, who should be doing Fire Fighting this week IF that information is correct.

Hi Yvonne, Ann & Heike! My name is Cheryl and my son is in 024. He will be leaving GL and going to sub school in CT. Nice to meet you all!

Hi, nice to meet you. Let's hope someone is going to get a letter soon in our Divison.

Hi Heike!!!  I am so glad so many of this group is staying in GL.  Best I can figure, they'll be together til around July.

Mary, I am very confused about where they are on the schedule.  Today will be day 20 or 21...Linds got there LATE Weds night.  We know that the 1st 4-5 days are P days....So I am thinking Monday Oct 8th was week 1, day 1.  BUT there weeks are only 5 days.  We know Sundays are down time.  So can week 2, day 1 be on a Sat? Right now, that only makes a couple days difference on the schedule, but as time goes on it will turn into a whole week.  I think today, they are either Week 3, day 2,    OR  Week 3 day 4.  Now I have probably confussed ya'll as much as I am....lol

Wonder if I leave cookies for my mailman today, will he leave me a letter.....:)

My son is division 023. Someone got a call from their son in that division on the 8th and he told his mom that was their last processing day, so I think that would make today week 3 day 1, if I have in calculated correctly! I'm really hoping for a letter this week too!!!

Way to keep us on track!!!!   Thank you:)
