Bugsmama, we are also from Cali and are going to PIR and will be happy to find Linda and give her a hug! Son will be heading to SA as well. Between ZacksMom and me, we've got you covered!
@Bugsmama, OOPS! I meant Amber :P
So has anyone received phone calls or personal letters yet? Im going nuts not hearing from my baby. We communicated daily by FB or text so this is really hard...Amber lives on her own but Id stalk her on FB and text to see how she was doing in school. She has me down her contacts as her PO (parole officer) lol...she's a comedienne!!!
How are you ladies holding up? I can't believe they almost halfway thru already!
Thank you Diz1lizard! Makes me feel good to know Amber will have hugs from mamas on that special day! Thank you ladies for giving my baby those hugs!!! Bless you and thank you, this make is so grateful to you!

Finally got first letter from my son!!!  So excited!!  But he enclosed a "Thanksgiving Adopt a Sailor" form.  We didn't know this was an option.  I feel so bad that we can afford two flights out there, one for this and one for graduation the following week.

Adopt a Sailor" is a great program! I've always "adopted" servicemen/women for the holidays when I lived near bases. Kit such a joy to be able to host them and have them be a part of our family...many still keep in touch and call me Mom!
Ladies I received a quick note from Amber today with the "adopt a recruit" form. I'm doing the Happy dance to finally get word from my Bug!!! She's doing fine. Said she's sore! Can only mail out on Sunday and needed stamps. She has received my mail but only gets mail on Sundays too. Calls would be allowed soon and that they haven't given her her first call yet. She said food was good and that she misses her cell phone!!! Hear that 900you div had a FB page and told me to check it out...lol, if she only knew I was stalking that site each Fri!!!
Hey all!
Received 3 personal letters today from Amber. She is doing well and is in good spirits. Says she's getting used to the routine but still dislikes the early wake up calls! She says she must be doing something right because no one is in her face and that all of her Dad's barking and shining days when she was younger has paid off. (her dad was a Drill instructor) She has the best hi shine on her boots and doesn't spaz with all the yelling going on!!! Humping with her seabag is putting some killer muscle on her legs and food, especially dessert is " bomb" !
She said she's tired but that she sleeps well at night. No tears yet and is looking forward to the weeks passing quickly without too much drama. Rumor is that they may get to call on friday so keep phone on standby!!! Cross fingers that this rumor is true...

My  son called tonight.  His bunk mate and him have the same first name.  He said it took them 4 days to figure this out because they call each other by their surnames.  To funny.

So happy for you Tammy Sue! Wasn't it great to hear their voices? Im just so excited and haven't been able to stop smiling!

Finally got a call today!!WooHoo!  Only had 5 min.  He said he hadn't realized how much the letters would mean to him so keep them comin'.  Mentioned a couple of names but not sure if I am allowed to say.  He's had a really bad eye infection the last 2 days.   Hopefully  they clear it up.  He says he is still on track.    Just happy to hear his voice.
