Welcome to the discussion group for divisions 801 & 802!!!

It only happens a few times a year when there are two special ops groups in one TG.

Be very aware when posting about your SRs who are in this division. Make sure you read the OPSEC rules (everyone should).

sjtina and a couple more ladies will be joining you to answer your questions about this "800" division. Although your SR is still in BC, what they are doing may be slightly different from what the other divisions in this training group are doing. It is also recommended that you go into your "settings" (clickable link on the right side) and change your privacy setting to "private" and change everything to friends only.

Please still use the main wall to post general questions, and concerns, such as meet and greet questions etc. Specific questions regarding the 800 division should be posted here.

We “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion groups as often as we would like to, and the ladies helping out with the 800 divisions don't always get to the main wall as often as they would like.

Every single question that is asked is important
Every single concern is genuine
Every single member is important to us
We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there ladies!!!

sailorsmom got a 10 minute phone call tonight (an 802 Mom)!!!!

That's great-- Maybe the calls will trickle in, even if the mail has stopped for this week.

Hope springs eternal! Thanks for sharing your good news sailorsmom.
Thanks for sharing the info on the phone calls. Makes the rest of us feel better. I know it makes me feel better. No mail here either from my 802 SR

No mail from my son in 802 :(

No letters or phone calls this week here either.  Div. 802.  But on the bright side, it seems no one is calling or writing so they MUST be doing it together! Teamwork!

like :)

No mail from 801 either! :( I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Only 19 days and counting!

Yay! We are in the teens. 19 days to go-- hard to believe. It becomes kind of a looooong week when they lose their mail privileges.

Have to tell a short story. I was on the Marine Corp Recruit Depot this past week and had occasion to sit in a courtyard for a coffee where a table of Drill Instructors were sitting. They were relaxing on a break so I struck up a conversation.... Great bunch of guys-- and no... They don't "hate" the kids. They are simply doing a job they were given to do in the way they were told to do it. I'm sure it's no different than the RDCs at RTC. They said that sometimes they have to bite the inside of their cheeks just to keep from bursting out in laughter when funny things happen. And all of them agreed, that though the methodology seems harsh at times, it's very effective and parents will be amazed at the transformation that takes place. Their Boot Camp is 3 months!

Then I was left alone with 8 young Recuits who were waiting in a lobby area where I was waiting too. They all looked scared to death. I asked "Are you guys allowed to talk to me?" They looked at each other and at the floor and behind them and one guy said "Well maybe if you was (his words) to ask us questions we could answer them questions." This made me laugh and for the next 15 minutes I got them laughing with me. It was just a chance to encourage these young men and I seized it. Then one of those Drill Instructors came through and everyone (except me) snapped to it in unison while he yelled at them. "Why are you bothering this man? Why are you not outside running and why are you not able to train? I will tell you why....It is because you are weak!"
These were guys who were injured waiting at a clinic...
He shouted at them like this for a couple of minutes, then turned on his heel and left. As soon as he was gone I looked at these boys and said "Well, I think that went better than expected, don't you?" And got them laughing again. They had 6 weeks to go but may be there longer because of their injuries. I told them that I have a son at Navy Boot Camp in Great Lakes and that I admired them all for what they were doing and that for the moment they were my son in my eyes, that I was proud of them and that they were going to make it. Then I bit the inside of my cheek and turned on my heel and left before any tears could come.

I'll bet that our boys too get encouragement at times in unexpected ways. I was glad to have stolen this opportunity this week.

Well your story just brought tears to my eyes JackFlash!  I have such a sense of pride in all our military and I am really just starting to appreciate the sacrifice.

We just received a call from our SR.  Sounds like about 1/2 of them got about 3 hours of free time for aceing inspection.  So we got a 45 minute call!  Our SR wanted to make another call and then get on the computer and check out some college football!  He's back on the grid at least for a few hours!

He said their division is doing great (802) and even if the other 1/2 didn't get the free time, they were doing great as a division and are shooting for "Hall of Fame" status.  He said they didn't have time this week to write letters this past week but they are good.  Training with Seal Team 8 every morning is also an honor.  Just wanted to post the good news that there should be some calls coming and that even if you don't get a call, sounds like they are doing well as a group.

Got spoiled with letters 3 weeks in a row. No letter this week. I was devastated until I saw the posts here that communication from the entire division was mon-existent. WHEW. I can breathe again. Thanks all.
I got a 5 minute call. Says things are going. Much better. Yay!
I got a call too! I was so glad to hear his voice even if it was all raspy. He says the whole Division is sick, but he was in great spirits. It's been tough, but they can see the finish line. He wasn't among those that got to go to Ricky Heaven, but at least he was able to call. He loves getting mail, even if he's unable to write back.

Hooyah 802!

I forgot to mention that he said he's one of those who is getting taken out for Thanksgiving as part of the Adopt-A-Sailor Program.  I'm not sure where, or who he is going with, but if you are someone taking an extra along-- THANK YOU in advance.  My Thanksgiving will be full of thanks, for your kindness.

And we got wonderful news about Christmas Leave.  He is pretty certain that after PIR and the first couple of weeks of BUD/S Prep-- they will have an opportunity for a break at Christmas time.
