Well, I dreaded this day and for good reason. This was by far the hardest thing I've had to do. I'm not good with goodbyes so this was no exception! I have been super calm up to the actual hug goodbye! Let me say....PIR cannot come quick enough!! Now I'd like to find the videos that show boot camp day by day so I know what he's doing.

Debbie, click MY PAGE tab on the above menu bar. That will take you to your personal page. There is a welcoming message towards the bottom from the Navy For Moms admins. Look for the Survival Guide.  This is your reference - all the links (including the videos) you'll ever need are in the guide. For your convenience, here is the link below. But remember you can always find it on your personal page.  Survival Guide for NavyForMoms Newbies  just click on this.

Ahhhh I knew I saw this somewhere. Brain cramp I guess...probably from crying too much. Thanks for the link to survival guide!!
You tube great lakes navy boot camp has good videos that you can watch. It's not day by day but it does give you a good idea and some comfort. My son has been gone 3 weeks. I know exactly how you are feeling. I still cry. Waiting for his call anyday now. By the way my name is Misty. Good luck to you and your family.
Thanks so much Misty. I'll check them out now. I'm so happy to have found this website, it's nice to be able to talk to other moms in the same boat. You're so lucky to be getting a call soon. Have you received the box yet? Or mail from him? Good luck to you guys too!

wow this has really been hard. I went up to meps yesterday and watched Austin get sworn in and hung out with him until the bus came. As soon as he got on the bus he sent me the most sweetest text ever. We sent text back and forth until he got on his plane. When I got my "I am here" call it lasted 29 seconds and he sounded so sad and it seemed he was reading from a cue card. I keep wandering how he is and hope he is eating enough. I guess that's part of being a mom. I already wrote him my first letter, I am just waiting on address so I can mail it. His recruiter to call him next Tuesday and he should have it.

I will have to start looking for these videos I am reading about. Maybe that will help

I know my phone call was 23 seconds and very scripted. He too sounded so sad! It broke my heart. They're probably thinking what the heck have I done? But they'll be fine...it's just getting past the first few weeks. I know my son needs all four wisdom teeth pulled so that should be tomorrow, most likely. Poor kids! I can't wait to find out when PIR is! Keep me posted!!

My son leaves late April and I'm pretty sure I'll be in the same boat on his ship out date!
