For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Hi, ChristiansMom. My son is also in Div 908. This was our first Thanksgiving without him and we're missing him too. I've thought often today about his day - Was it a "normal" training day? Did they get a special dinner? Was the goal of the RDCs to keep it a regular day so the SRs wouldn't have much time to think about home & missing us? I know we'll hear soon. I'm glad we have these groups to get to know each other & support one another.

It's hard not knowing what's happening. We we're hoping the recruits could spend Thanksgiving with local families. I heard they have done that in the past, but maybe keeping their regular routine is best during basic. Gotta go...busy watching for the mail and our first letter from our daughter! :)

Me, too. Very thankful to have the opportunity to get to know you all. I thought not stop thinking about him yesterday and only lost it when I was carving the turkey. Usually I have to do gymnastics to keep him away from the dark meat until I put it on the table. Miss him.

My boyfriend is in div 908 and he got to call his mom today, it was they best thing ever, totally made my day. However, we still haven't gotten his form letter though.

Your boyfrined's mom is so lucky...we were hoping for a call yesterday from our daughter, but it didn't happen. Maybe we'll get a letter soon. I'm missing my girl so much - This was our first Thanksgiving without her. Stay strong ladies...we can get through this together!

I got three letters and the form letter from him friday and then three more yesterday, made me so happy!

Oh, I'm so happy for her. We've gotten his form letter but no other contact (except the 28-second "I'm safe" call). I miss him so much!

So, our mail carrier was just here and my husband told her that if there wasn't a letter from Great Lakes for us he was calling her supervisor. She looked at him with a very shy smile and said, "maybe Monday Sir". Bummer! Our mail carrier is going to be sooooo sick of us! :)

I arrived home after being out of town for Thanksgiving and the first letter from my son was sitting on the counter! It had arrived Friday. He sounded good, but misses us and home. He said the transition has been hard, but they're getting used to it. They were in P-5 hold when he wrote the letter (11/17 & 18) and 1-1 training would begin on 11/19. He said he was "so ready". They got their uniforms on 11/16. He said they were all strutting around and looking at their names on them. That made me smile. He also said they have the best RDCs, who are funny and teach by showing more than yelling, unless they mess up, then there's yelling. He's on the Color Guard for other TG's PIRs, as well as being WPO (Weapons Petty Officer) and Guidon Bearer for the Division flag. He said to share his address with everyone as he needs mail to keep him going (his words). There are 4 others in his division that will be going to Master-at-Arms A school. I'd love to know which of you have SR's going to MA.
We've made it through Thanksgiving without our SRs being home - now Christmas. Then graduation - 39 days, 16 hours, 49 minutes.

I got more information from your son's letter than from my own! We'll have to share. Christian also said that their RDCs were awesome. He's playing snare.
