Hi All,

A boot camp Dad posted this on facebook and I thought is was so good, I wanted to share it her:

The Five Stages Of Loved Ones During Basic Training. Stage

1: Denial ... The first thought is one of disbelief. The person cannot believe their Loved One wants to join the Navy. (Are you kidding me???) This stage is often accompanied by deep sighs and a hope that sanity will return.

Stage 2: Anger “OK. Are you are just doing this to get even with me for something? Why are you trying to be mean me? Have you sought professional help?“

Stage 3: Bargaining “If you don’t go, I will cook your favorite meal EVERY DAY.”

Stage 4: Depression “OMG, (He /She) really is gone to Boot Camp. I won’t get a letter for TWO WHOLE WEEKS! And no phone calls for a MONTH! And I won’t get to see (him / her) for TWO MONTHS!!! Sigh… Life as I have known it is over… “

Stage 5: Acceptance “PIR is almost here!!! I am so excited!!! I am so proud!!! What am I going wear? How do I get there? Can my entire extended family attend? Can I stand next to my Sailor during PIR? Will there be an entire team of photographers and videographers dedicated to my Sailor’s every move? Can I meet (him / her) outside before they march in? Can I come live in their Division area with them until Graduation Day??? Etc… etc… And then suddenly, before you know it, you are sitting there and the door rises and in they march in to the Drill Hall ...

Hi My son is leaving for boot camp on sept.23. Not sleeping to good.

Lol...this is so me when my daughter left in August...

How is anything have you talk to her.

I Love This! How true it is.. We have a daughter in the Marines and now one that has joined the Navy..

My daughter left for boot camp the the 4th. I got a call from her on Sat., she was extremely upset. They made her call me and tell me she might have to come home. She made a comment the someone had big muscles. I can only guess this is not allowed. I haven't heard anything else from her so I guess she is staying and this was there way of breaking her down. This is a lot harder than I thought it was going to me. I received her box, but have not gotten a letter with an address to write her back. Does anyone know how long it takes to get the address, or is it just whenever she gets time to write.?

It took me Two weeks to receive the formal letter with his address and the graduation date!

Hi, everyone...I'm O'Cheers!

I do not have a child entering Boot Camp...but my best friend does, and I know she needs the other Moms here; she is in agony-

Her oldest daughter left for Boot Camp, yesterday-

I've been reading your stories, and thank God for your presence...she needs to know that she isn't alone, and that this place is pretty amazing-

Because it is-

I'll be doing some copy/pasta to lure her in...startig with this gem from Boot Camp Dad-

Till then  :)

Edit...clarified-

My son left on Monday, too. I can't believe how difficult it was to say goodbye. And today, I got a package with the clothes that he wore up. WOW.

I can feel the excitement

I really felt all of those.  Thanks for sharing.
