Welcome to the Division Discussion for divisions 071 and 072.

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

My son is on Ship 12 Division 072 and I have sent four letters but have not gotten one back yet, I'm still waiting with anxiety every time I check my mail box.

We have not gotten a letter or a phone call yet :( We are hoping that we will get a phone call or letter this weekend or early next week. Are they only allowed to call on weekends?

Got my first letter yesterday.....even though I am not attached to this division, for those of you who had SR's leave at the end of November, I'm guessing yours will come today or Monday.  My letter was dated December 9.

I'm envious, it will take a letter from my son to bring my spirits back up to where it needs to be.  I know that sounds selfish but it is what it is.

No letter yet.  My husband and I have sent three, and his girlfriend has sent about 20 plus birthday cards (it was the 14th) and she hasn't gotten one either.  How about a phone call?

How strict is the 4 person limit for guests? Our sons girlfriend wants to go but she would be guest #5

HI all.,  My son is in this ship, Div. and we have yet to receive any letters.  Hoping when the mail comes today perhaps.

Funny  I stepped on the scale this morning and I have lost 2 pounds in the 3 weeks that my son as been gone without even trying..... Must be the less snack food in the house with no children around anymore.    Have to think of the positives.

Curious who is staying where and which Meet and Greet folks are going to ????? I am hoping to finalize things this weekend for us.

Kathy

Hello Kathy, my son Corey is on the same ship and I was at a small grocery store where they know my habits and the lady said "you sure have scaled back what did you do kick your son and his buddies out" I couldn't control the tears that ran down my cheek but I tried to keep smiling. I told her he joined the Navy and she breathed a sigh of relief not knowing why I was so emotional. I miss him so much because he is my youngest and as a single parent we got really close as his time to leave got here.  I booked my room at the Navy Lodge which is really close to the base and very reasonable.  I think I'm going to do Sarge's meet and greet it sounds like the best one for me.  Good luck and if you get a letter please let me know.

Superjames -

Eric is our youngest of two - and the last to leave home.   I just came from our little neighborhood food coop where he and I have had this ritual every Saturday afternoon / evening of buying a big Chocolate Chip cookie together and eating.    There were the big cookies..... I had to buy one and eat it - just to keep the tradition alive.  Think I am going to write him about it.....

My husband and I have been waiting all day for the mailman to come and still nothing - I mean we have gotten no mail period today,  Either the mailman is running really late due to all the extra Christmas packages he is delivering or there is some sort of mail holiday happening.  We rarely get nothing.

Oh Well, maybe on Monday for the first letter.   We have booked a room at the Navy Lodge as well.... Still deciding between Sarges and Flannigans....Kathy

Superjames,

Boy your Sam sounds like my Eric.  He too tried college for a year at my insistance because his older brother has done the college experience.  He too after a year decided college was just not what he wanted.  He did not like the idea of taking out thousands in student loans and wanted to do something that had more of a purpose.  It did not help that his girlfriend broke up with him and this town is so small that where ever he went, he ran into her..   That played into his decision as well.   He wants to do something with purpose and adventure.... There you have it.  I too am so sad about the holidays.  My husband does not even want to put up a tree or anything - which is why I told him we have to play the act and do it.  I don't want Eric feeling guilty that we are missing him so much that we are nonfunctional.  I want him to know that we are proud of him and we too are adjusting to our new lives.  It is a change for all of us......K

No letter here either.

We have reservations at the Navy lodge and planning to go to Sarge's Meet & Greet.

My husband is on ship 12 DIV 072 and someone in another group received a phone call Saturday from her son in the same division because her son needed more back ground info. He told her they hadn't had a chance to write and they would be able to write on Sunday 12-16-12. So hopefully we will all get that letter this week! This is sooo hard.
