Welcome to the Division Discussion for divisions 079 and 080.
These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.
Get to know each other, your SRs are!
Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.
Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.
Hang in there!!!

Just received a call (actually 2!) from my fiance (SHIP 12 DIV 80) for "security clearance" (of course, we used that phone call for much more meaningful conversation). I wanted to share what he told me about his division because I think it will help all of us rest our minds a little. Also, if anybody is related to SR Nupell (not sure of the spelling), this may make your day - if not week:
They are all doing great and receiving mail. My fiance confided that he was sad he didn't receive my mail, but I assured him it should be there by tomorrow. He said him and some of his friends from his division talk about their loved ones meeting on Navyformoms and Facebook! They laugh and joke about it, and are extremely happy because it makes them feel closer to each other - like family. He told me that SR Nupell received like 20 letters the other day or something and their RDC was like, "What the ****? Boy, you just stand right there. You got too much mail!" And everyone shared a big, hearty, laugh - no one got in trouble - including SR Nupell ^_^
According to my fiance, they are getting along great, even with their RDC. Things get tough personally on the recruits, but nothing they can't handle.
It's good to find someone who is in the same division as my son. I received his form letter and first letter from him yesterday. Sounds like they are doing well.
Received first letter from my son today! I hope others with loved ones in Ship 12 Div 079 get letters today as well.
Thanks for sharing Scarlette. I keep hoping I will get a call, but so far nothing. Had I known they got calls for more information, we would not have been so detailed on filling out the reference forms. ;)
Thank you Scarlette for sharing this...our son is in the brother division ..079.
It has been amazing to feel connected via this site. Certainly has made the transition a little easier..JUST a little. Very proud of all of these young men and the ladies in other divisions.
Blessings
Any of you receive letters from your SR today? I have seen several Moms in other divisions got letters today. No such luck at our house. I am so curious to hear how his division is getting along.
I'm so excited! I finally got a letter yesterday! My son says that everyone is doing fine. All 86 of them in his barracks. Getting up at 4:30 am and not getting much sleep has been a little rough but the food is decent. He misses music and sweet tea! LOL He says they finally heard something nice comeout of their RDC's mouth yesterday. He was happy to have a familiar face as a bunk mate. Another IL guy! As he says....Stay calm and chive on! Missing my baby boy!
Thanks for the update! Glad to hear some news from these boys! Hoping I get a letter today. :)
Have you all made plans to attend PIR? We have a room at the Navy Lodge Reserved. Need to make flight arrangements and rent a car yet. Are you all planning to attend a meet and greet? Which one?
Still no letter for me today......
Hi Landlockedmom,
May I ask, what is the Navy Lodge? Is it on base? Would you share that contact no. please? Thank you!
So happy for all of you that have heard from your loved ones. I have not heard from my son yet - hoping for a letter today. Anyone from Ship 12 Div 079 heard from your recruit?
Happy Dance here! Finally got my letter. He is well and enjoying the experience. He said the hair cut is an adjustment and they put him in glasses which he did not have prior. He is finding the food good, which I was worried about because he has been a picky eater all of his life. Passed the swim test- yay! He thought it was cool that they now have their camo's with their name's on the chest to wear.
He has met several guys who also going sub which is nice as they will probably travel on to Groton together.
The most surprising adjustment he thought was just not knowing what is going on in the outside world. He said staff leaked the accident with the Dallas Cowboy player who was killed and that when he was at the pool he saw something about a shooting on the tv in the office there. He knows it is bad because the flags are half mast, but at that point still did not know what had happened.
He still had not received any of our mail yet. Hope he got some this week after he got this letter sent.
