Welcome to the Division Discussion for divisions 085 and 086.

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Hi all, well my news is alittle different, received a letter today and a phone call. My daughter may be getting a medical separation and A decission will be made in 10-20 days. Something about a bone chip in her knee. She says they keep the guys and gals pretty well separated, even though they are in a coed group. The food is ok. They started receiving their letters the Sunday before Christmas. She did explain that their scores are somewhat low because everyone is not passing there Pt and academic tests, but they are adhering to the rules, doing their best and getting along pretty well. She said that they are expecting to be able to call home on this coming Sunday. Hope everyone else is doing well and hearing positive news.

My son was injured during AF BC and it was his determination to stay in his flight that kept him in, along with the  minor defect they found in his ankle,  that he overcame by his desire against being medically discharged. Encourage you daughter to be strong in her desire; she's come this far!

Ship 12 DIV 085, I finally received my letter it's the best day ever. In his opinion the physical things are'nt that hard it's the cleaning that can be tedious. The first niughht they went to bed until 3 am and then were waken up 15 min later and stay up until 9 pm the next night. They didnt get to shower for 3.5 day. They have 10 min to eat and 2 min to shower. There days start at 5:15 am and end at 10 pm. His letter seems to be upbeat about the experience so I am happy about that. They are working very hard to become sailors. I am proud of him.

Does anyone know how long it takes before they can drive?  I believe my son is going to A school at Monterey.  I know he will be there for along time.  Do they get to drive while they are there?

The reason I am asking is because I was wondering if I should take him off of our car insurance

I'm so happy someone started a forum for this division. I thought it was just me not getting any calls or letters. I write all the time, but get no word back.

I got letters from my SR!!! Got them the day after Christmas. Best gift ever! She says she's doing well, is enjoying the food, studying hard. Misses us of course! She sounded really good. She got a big kick out of telling me that her service job was the same as her chore at home, cleaning the "head"!  She did say that they all had to do push ups, jumping jacks etc. because some people would not be quiet when told. She has a cold too, a cough and runny nose. They have to print neatly in their deck log, so now she just writes everything that way. She said their holiday routine started on the 23rd. She gets up at 4am, and goes to bed at 8pm. The food sounds really healthy, lots of fruit and veggies. They are busy learning how to fold their uniforms, polishing their boots, studying, marching, PT tests. She said she got paid for the first time, and they are getting their dog tags soon. She was hoping they could call on Christmas or the 26th, but obviously that didn't happen.

Approximately their fourth week of training. Pictures aren't taken until their dress uniforms are fitted and returned from the tailor.

Well, we finally got a phone call, but only 2 minutes for bank info. And since I got called in for O/T, he wasted a minute trying to call me first. He told my husband the instructors are very strict and they are just trying to hang in there. He is really learning to listen; this is good. That's all we'll get till Battlestations, so I'll just make my rsv's and hope for the best. Since they're being so strict, this Div must be doing some learning the hard way! Lots of SRs were making calls, probably many that aren't in on our discussion, so others may get more calls. God Bless, everyone! In Hawaii, it's Hauoli Makahiki Hou! 2013!
