Hello?!?  Is anybody out there . . . ,  {shades of Pink Floyd there -- yikes, deja vu, all over again}

Besides KatsMom and Wynona, is nobody else from the 912 DIV signed up for N4M?   There was only one guy on the navydads site, and his recruit was selected for FAST training, so essentially not part of this group any longer. 

[[By the Way, kudos to both Brian and his recruit for realizing that despite the minor setback, this will greatly improve chances of a successful Navy career.  BravoZulu to them!]]

But seriously, folks, I just KNOW there HAVE to be more than 3 recruits in the DIV  --  2 band members and one drill person!

Hello!  My daughter is in this division!  I have 4 letters from her now & she didn't mention performing.  Possibly to surprise me, I don't know. She has sang her whole life.  I hope she actually gets to do something she loves while in there!  She says it's so hard!

MSgtRet:  Unfortunately you will find that a very small percentage of families represented by SRs are  on N4Moms.  Very sad, but many don't know about this site.  I never met my son's recruiter (different town) and knew nothing about it.  But after he left, I wanted to find out info, so googled and found this site.  This PIR group started with about 1320+ SRs.  Some will be asmoed, some discharged, but they will gain some back from earlier PIR groups who had been detained in training---this PIR group should still graduate with about 1150--1200 sailors.  But still, if each SR had a representative on this site, there would be 1320+ members.....yet, there are only 94 members on this PIR group.  Sad, right?.....we ask you all to tell others about N4Moms when you go to PIR. Some people in the past have even made up little cards with the N4Moms info on it to pass out.  When in school and in the fleet, this site is very valuable also!

Is division 912 a special one being that there are band members? Is that why there aren't many in this group? My son never was in band. He did 7 years of choir though?

@diannep:  yep, I know those sad realities, but was hoping that by posting something, others visiting the main PIR group board might notice and also post something, and it seems to have worked!  I wish there were a way to reach out further, but have no idea where to find any of the other Moms & families in my locality.  For now my attention is on Boot, of course, but maybe after he heads out to "A", I may be able to find more in the area.  I've also told him to pass the word through his shipmates.  I do have Avery business cards, will make up some to pass word about N4M and navydads at the PIR -- after all, most of our SR's are soon to be SA's and SN's, and still need our support.  Believe me, I remember the lift provided by mail over my time in service.  And yes, I can relate to the recruiter situation - I have only met my SR's by phone, and then after son had left for Boot.

 

@Heidi - yes, this DIV is 'special' performing Division with band, drill squad, chorale, and 'attendant' duties performed at the two PIR's preceding their own.  'Attendants' include ushers and 'body-snatchers' who cope with persons in formation who are passing out - normally from locking their knees, believe it or not.

 

And Woohoo!!  got TWO pieces of mail from son today!!  Of course, they were both short-form "form memos" with  '"X" the answer(s)' or short fill-in blanks questionnaires, so as not to stress tired writing abilities and simplify responding. (ha ha.)  I also provided SASE's [self-addressed, stamped envelopes] to make it even easier.  The only info I did NOT enter was return address, so he could do it correctly, by RTC standards.

@MSgtRet I am so excited that you got mail from your SR. I still have not received any mail from my SR.  It is nice to know that they have had a chance to write even if it is only fill in the blanks.

Received my 1st letter Thursday night. It was short and to the point. Things were good surprised at how quickly time flies there. Told me about being in a triple threat division. Also said he couldn't wait to see us for graduation. So thankful.

Hello! There don't seem to be very many of us out here in Division 912. I guess the holidays really messed up the timing of getting approved to post on the site. Thanks for your postings  - you helped me figure out what the 900 divisions are and why my son is in 912! Any why he is so excited about having me there for graduation! I see notifications about several different meet & greets - any recommendations?

I received a letter from my SR yesterday dated Dec. 30. He said the division is having issues listening and needs to learn to hustle more. He said the division is finally understanding that fact. Hopefully they can all do better and then they will be able to call home. He stated in this letter that he did not know when they would be able to call.
