Welcome to the Division Discussion for divisions 083 and 084.

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

I'm staying At the navy lodge, it's affordable and received good reviews but they are so many hotels in the area that I'm sure they all are familiar with the sailor graduation. Some have shuttles to take you to and from PIR.

We're staying at the Navy Lodge too!!

Got another letter today! My boyfriend says division 084 is trying to get into the Hall of Fame, but they have a problem of talking too much.

But i was told that for staying in the Navy Lodge my sailor recruit has to be there to make the reservations, how does it work then?

The navy lodge in Great Lakes allows you to make the reservation, you just have to give their name. This is the only navy lodge that does that.

Cute Kitty

Does anyone know if there is transportation from the base to Chicago available?

There are no shuttles except the ones provided by some hotels and there lots of taxi services available.

Thanks Alison! Got another phone call today :)

We received more letters today, and a phone call - Div 83 rocks!!!! ;-) So glad we have gotten 2 phone calls so far!!! But sad that so many of them are SO sick, including our son - pink eye, a cold, sore throat, horrible cough/congestion, and vomiting. He was on LLD (limited light duty) on Dec 30th, 31st, in SIQ yesterday, Jan 1st, and now 4 more days of LLD - he said he's on like 5 different medications!!! He's never been that sick, the most he's had in YEARS is a slight cold a few times. I wish I could send him some natural nutrition supplements & all natural detoxifying products. Sigh... I told him as soon as he leaves BC, he's going on some GREENS and all natural anti-stress formula to keep healthy!

I also received my phone call today! This was the New Year cheer up I needed since I was feeling a bit depressed without him, my fiance also was sick, i felt so bad i can't take care of him, he joked about his bunk looking like a pharmacy with all the medications :\
I already have my plane tickets, and reservations, I was wondering, is anyone staying at the Red Carpet Inn?

Hi Everyone,

Now joining the group from LA./California. Anyone else live here? My son is in Ship 13/div 84. I've had two letters, two phone calls; he was sick when I got the first letter before Christmas and he told me yesterday on the phone he is sick again. He expects to be sick on and off until the end of boot camp because everyone is coughing and on top of each other 24/7. He is holding up great otherwise, has made new friends and got separated from his bunkmate because they were laughing too much. He said they get about six hours of sleep that is when the Chief doesn't wake up everyone in the middle of the night because the compartment is messy.

Just an FYI, if you haven't made a hotel reservation yet, the Days Inn Great Lakes is only one mile away from the Navy base and offers a special rate of $59.00/night if you stay three nights. You can also rent a car with Advantage from Midway Airport for $20.00/day. It beats taking the train/shuttle, etc... Let me know if you stay at the Days Inn, I'd love to meet you.
