There are several "A" Schools in MS.  What will his rating (job/specialty) be?

Since he is still in BC, you may also want to join, or at least check out, Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones), PIR Reference Information, and New Members Stop Here. There will be a lot of great information and support for you in those groups as well as in the PIR group. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) and Discussions within the groups.

Other groups that may be of interest to you are Girlfriends, Fiances, and Wives of Sailors, Navy Girlfriends, PROUD NAVY GIRLFRIENDS:), and Boot Camp Girlfriends

(Group names within this reply are clickable links.)

My son will also be heading to Meridian, MS for the 5 wk A-school after BC in March....PS school is self-paced, so sailors can actually finish up sooner if they go through the mods quickly

mine is too same job and really?? so they could be done sooner than 5 weeks??

absolutely!  of course, there are other deciding factors that determine his length of stay...like waiting on his billet to open up, travel arrangements, etc...but he can get through his school as fast as he works getting through the modules.  Our guys will be there together it looks like, if all goes well in BC!

hes PS and is going for 5 weeks

Sometime between now and the end of BC, both of you should join Personnel Specialists Moms.  You should also check out Sailors attending A School in Meridian, Mississippi and Meridian Mississippi A School family&friends. There are also fB pages, NAS Meridian Facebook Page and NTTC Meridian Facebook Page. The Rating Information Card can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/enlisted/rating_info_cards/ps.pdf.

thanks for those links lemonelephant!

You are very welcome.
