OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Submarine moms are special:

--- All of us have boys, "SAILORS!"

 --- Who serve on "boats,"

 --- With whereabouts unknown, and

--- We only get sporadic, short emails while they're out!

Tell us where your sailor serves...

Seahorse-Just curious...My sailor said it was OK for me to post online when he left but the date was all I could say. I'm forever screwing these things up(OPSEC)but I figured someone told him that & took him at his word. Am I wrong?

When in doubt don't tell others anything about the comings and goings of submarines, and for sure I would not post anything about ship movements on a public forum like this.  It is called the Silent Service for a reason.

Good advice William. Happy New Year. We now have two Submariiners so we are now
twice as proud and twice as silent.... ; )

Guidelines:

- You can say "They've left!" once they've left.

- You can say "They're back!" once they're back.

- Don't say what port they're in while they're there.

Hope this helps...

Kaye S., Admin for "Sub Moms"

If you aren't sure what to say - say nothing at all.  When people ask my my standard answer is "I don't know"
