For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Can I pack a small bag for my daughter to take after PIR at the airport with some of her personal items?
I was wondering if I can take her a small duffle bag with some basic stuff she is missing, like her favorite pj's and her straight iron and favorite sneakers. Can I give her her phone at the airport? She is going to A school in Pensacola. Do they wear uniform during A school as well, and who provides them with the uniform? Thank You!

As a Sailor, she will always wear a uniform to work, it will be the uniforms that she was issued in boot camp, and she will be required to maintain. (She will get a uniform allowance once a year, year but she is still required to maintain them in the meantime.)
After a certain point in her training, she will be allowed to wear civilian clothes while on liberty (the time she's not at work or on duty).
You can meet her at the airport with her phone and some items, but keep in mind, she will be traveling with a VERY full (and large and heavy) sea bag and a backpack already, so she really won't have room to take a whole it of extra items. If you're talking ONE pair if pajamas ONE straightening iron, and a cell phone, probably ok, but she won't be in civilian clothes right away, and won't be able to add it to her stuff easily, so the rest is better off being mailed to her.

When you do get ready to ship her things, be sure to ask for specific advice for her A school... in general, packages go to a central location where the sailor has to go get them, so don't bother with overnight shipping, and USPS flat rate is often the best deal.

Regular mail may be just as good because I think, and I could be wrong, they are allowed mail only on specific days.

I know my daughter told me that they only get mail on Sundays. That was the only time they were handing it out. Maybe that was in the beginning...I don't know.

At first, they need to get their SR who will be the "Mail PO" trained in federal mail handling. It takes a couple weeks to get that sorted out before the mail can "flow" on weekdays. They are only allowed to write on Sundays, if anyone is caught sneaking letter writing after lights out, they can lose privileges for a bit.
