Welcome to the Division Discussion for divisions 159 and 160

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

Hi everyone! I like this group because all our SRs are in it together. The letter I got yesterday was written on Sunday. He said that they have watch in the morning and evening and didn't have much time to write...also had to study and do chores! He did say again that he should be able to call on Saturday and the length of his call depended on his behavior. Hoping he's right!
Got a letter today. First part of the letter sounded sad but as it went on it was more upbeat! It was great just to hear from him. Hope he calls again Saturday!

I also received my letter today too!!! I had tears of joy while I read it!  My SR wrote that I would be proud of him.....he finally learned how to iron!  He said the days are getting easier because he's getting more and more use to it everyday.  I'm happy to hear that.  He also said that the food isn't bad but nothing beats mom's cooking, he misses that :)  It was great to finally hear from him. Hope he calls again too.  Glad everyone's getting their letters and calls.  And if you haven't, you soon will.  I'm thankful for this support group.

3 Fridays down! Only 6 more to go! GO DIVISIONS 159/160! So proud of you!

Me either!!  I am anxious to say more Fridays done than to go-LOL. I hope my son has recieved my letters by now so he can call me this weekend-if he has our numbers...it seems like we are all adjusting since we know our kids are in great hands.

Hope it wasn't my son getting yelled at...although might have been because he hasn't called! Congrats on your call....I'm sure it was so nice to hear his voice!
Thanks Chissybear....our last name does not start with a G thank goodness! Lol. It seems kind of random with the phone calls...I'll just wait patiently and remember that no news is good news!

Hi! My son is Ship 13, Div 159, USS Marvin Shields.  We have our reservation for Grad day at the Navy Lodge on the Naval Station at Great Lakes.  I saw chatter here about two lodges with one off the base.   Has anyone stayed at either, and if so, were they clean and comfortable?  Has anyone been to Great Lakes and know what the weather is like end of April?  I'm so excited.  Only 5 more weeks.

Hi! My son is also on the USS Marvin Shields. Anyone know which airlines are good about not charging a fee to change flight reservations?  First time flying out from California.  We would be flying out of LAX in Los Angeles, Calif.  Good to know about the weather there.  We will all need to bundle up but I'm excited about seeing my SR next month!   Thanks for any help.  Love this site!

Southwest airlines doesn't charge for changes.  You will have to pay if the fare is higher on the new flights but there is no penalty

Thank you for your help!

Got a letter from my son today....he passed his first inspection with a perfect score and passed his first physical training test so will graduate an E2! So proud of him. He also said that he will only get 2 more calls...one on March 20th (today!) and one on April 19th. ...he added...however, the schedule may change! Lol. Keep your phones near you division 159!!!!
