Welcome to the Division Discussion for divisions 157 and 158

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

I'm thinking you'll get one today Nancy....They tell us that whatever day we get our first letter from them is, will probably be the regular day throughout boot camp. I'm wishing for you that's Friday!!! Perfect way to start your weekends ((hug))

I am hoping that my son will be able to give me a call today so my cel will be charged, on and with me all day.  I'm not sure if he will remember my cel number, if not I have sent him the info in one of my letters.  Has anyone heard if their SR has started getting letters?  Three weeks down and five to go, remember that in this case no news is good news.

I am hoping for a call today, too. keeping the cell close by. I have not heard if they have received letters but will be one of my questions IF she gets to call today.

fellow moms, I want you to know I read your posts - I am just having trouble keeping up with all the places I want to keep up with - this group (our 157/158 brother divisions), our PIR 4.26 facebook group plus the Navy4Moms PIR group and the RTC facebook page (love the photos). By the way, a gray and chilly day today in the Chicago area. I like seeing the photos with our SRs with hats on as they march about. My daughter would never choose to wear a warm hat, so I'm glad she has to listen to her RDCs! She told me that the Navy has strict rules - if it is xx degrees outside, they dress appropriately.

By nature, I'm not much of a "poster" but I do read your posts. I sprained my ankle a week ago (on crutches) so everything is taking longer (getting to work and I need to get groceries this weekend, but not sure I can face it). Today, I will write my SR another letter and read everything while I keep my foot elevated. My kitty is purring on my lap, so a good morning. ~~ Carol

Sorry to hear about your ankle, hopefully you will heal quickly! I don't post all that much either, but it is definitely comforting to read the posts from other Moms. Take care of yourself, April is not all that far away! As for the weather here in Chicago - the most commonly used phrase is - "At least it isn't snowing!"

Mine's been getting my letters and was happy that I sent them every day! lol

just got a 20 second call and then she said she has to switch phones. will post more if she calls back

she called back, we talked for 18 minutes this time.  She said some other girls have said how all us moms are talking on the Navy4moms site - my daughter thinks that is kinda funny.  She was made the recruit petty office Master of Arms which means the rest of division 158 has to march to her steps (she isn't in the front but is off to the side so the others can match her steps.) She is trying really hard to be a good leader.

She sounded a little discouraged just because she says when the Petty Officer is telling them what is next, some of the other SRs just won't stop talking, so then they don't hear and then they mess up so everyone gets yelled at, including extra IT.  "We all need to pay attention, then boot camp will be good, but right now it is not very good." She said "We need to get it together." She hopes they will soon.

She said everyday it is posted what will happen that day. She thinks they are on week 2, day 2 (but she says she could be wrong if another parent hears something different). She likes it when they go outside, but somedays they are not outside at all. She asked me how much more time is left and I said you all graduate 6 weeks from yesterday. She told me the names of the Petty Officer and RDCs but told me not to post the names.

They are getting mail and it is nice to get to get it, so keep sending mail. Photos printed on the paper are nice.  She said she is friends with all the girls and knows a few of the guys in her division. She doesn't have much time to write, like 5 minutes, because she has to iron and clean her rack during the holiday time.

They do have a computer multiple choice test on Monday and they study a lot - she feels ready. A lot of people are sick. The galley where they eat has many choices of food because non-SRs eat there too and some SRs are not making the healthiest choices (there is soda and processed food to choose from). There is good stuff too and she eats some salad everyday. I had read somewhere they are forced to drink lots of water. She said no, they are told to hydrate, but no requirement.

She thinks they may get to call again on Wednesday afternoon, so asked me to keep my phone close.

That's all I can remember. Hope you all get a call today!

Thanks for the update! Congratulations to your SR for being made Recruit Petty Officer Master of Arms. Mine did not talk very long as she wanted to try and call her boyfriend also. She also said that they love getting the letters, hope to hear from her again soon.

Excellent news about your girl! Mine said she is Rack something - basically she makes sure everyone made their beds correctly. Absolutely hilarious since she never made hers while at home! She sounded really tired and said it's getting better in some areas but the IT stuff is tough because of a few. Love the updates here...it's hard to follow all the stuff on the FB page! lol

Hi Moms, I don't usually do the posting thing either but I really want to keep up on what is going on with my son and your posts help me do that. I got my first call from my son today and he sounded very upbeat. He is sick with a cold and said a lot of them are. He did not go on sick call, said he would tuff it out. I was in the Army many years ago and the first few weeks are hard on the recruits. They are being turned from individuals into a team and sometime that takes peer pressure to get the ones that are goofing off or talking to get with the program and shape up. As this happens life get easier on all since they ALL pay for any individual that gets into trouble. My son said that yesterday was a turning point from covering for a few that were not carrying their weight to pressuring them to straighten up. He said that he did push-ups till he thought he would pass out. But they are young, and healthy and this to shall pass. Character building does not happen in one day. Just keep your spirits up and keep the letters going to your recruit. My son is now the EPO (Education Petty Officer) and says he likes the job.
Well another week under their belts, and I'm sure they are starting to get into the swing of things. Missed my sons phone call on Wednesday but received another letter today. The tone of the letter was very good and he is taking the challenges as they come. I'm so sad I missed my chance to talk to him but hopefully I'll get another chance in the next week or two.

Bummer on missing the call! My phone hasn't left my side since she left...Hubby things I'm a freak for sleeping with it and friends have strict orders when to call! lol I got a letter yesterday and she sounded pretty good. She is the Religious Petty Officer and this makes me so happy since she gave up on God a few years back. Thankfully, He never gives up on us! I'm waiting for the 'I'm a sailor' call, and not really expecting anything else. I got my hopes up last week and got really emotional. It took me down for 2 days! This is such an emotional roller coaster! Thankfully, I've got you ladies ((hug))
