And Trish from Texas posted this on 2/1/13 - "In a nutshell, Corpsman can only fill billets (job openings) that are available to them the week that they complete EMT training...  The students pick from billets available according to their "GPA" in their class.  Whomever has the highest scores at that point picks first, etc.  Not all classes have C school billets available, while some may have several, it just depends on the needs of the Navy.  Quad Zero means that the Corpsman doesn't have a specialty, and will go on to their first duty station after completing C school as a General Duty Corpsman."

Anyone can tell me what's the difference between FMTB and FMF? And I've heard that you'll most likely get station in NC first with your FMTB training there? Any details? Anything will be appreciated. Thank you!! :)

Wynona, look through this: http://www.navyformoms.com/group/hmhospitalcorpsmanaschoolinsananto... for descriptions of FMTB and FMF (Fleet Marine Force).  F

or FMTB training, corpsmen are sent either to Camp Johnson at Camp Lejeune, NC, or to Camp Pendleton, CA, and it just depends on "the needs of the Navy."

FMTB training course is eight weeks long, and they leave immediately after graduation.

My son PIR'd 12/28/12 and went to SAT. He had to wait a couple of weeks for folks to return from winter break and gather enough people for his Corpsman school. He will hopefully graduate 4/26/13. He got his orders 2 weeks ago. He will be a Pharmacy Tech, and he said that he will continue to be stationed at SAT. He said he is expecting his dorm room to be changed even though he is staying there. He told me that he will be there 6 months. I guess his rate is 8482 although he initially signed for 8404. Personally I am glad for the "needs of the Navy", because I am such a worrier and FMF was scary for me. I heard that they may still send him to FMF after Pharm Tech. Anyone here who had that experience? Anyone with Pharm Tech in SA? Thanks Marcy for this site..

Does anyone have more info on x ray tech? How long do most C schools last? My soon to be HM hasn't filled out his wish list yet, but was thinking about x ray tech or dyalsis, his mother is on dyalsis so it has some interest to him. Any help is appreciated!!

Hello Everyone,

My son has his next orders FMTB, Camp Lejeune, then USN Mercy but I'm very confused because of course I could hardly hear him and I think since he joined the Navy he doesn't speak English as I know it. LOL  His cell phone kept breaking up. He said something about a hospital in San Diego. Anyone know the name? And does this mean as long as he passes this he is attached to the Marines?  So CONFUSED but very PROUD!

My husband just told me today there are two classes who just got their orders and ALL of them get the order of FMTB with a station. So they are all going to FMTB. That's pretty crazy cause I guess the Navy needs them to go with the Marine so much!

Wynona, what does he mean by "FMTB with a station"?

So all their orders are FMTB + an assigned hospital/clinic for them to go station at right after that.

No one's headed to C school then from those two classes?   And if they're all going to a hospital or clinic, then no one to a Marine unit?  All will be 0000/8484 then?  As far as Field Medical Training Battalion, nearly all corpsmen go to FMTB for training, doesn't mean they're headed for Fleet Marine Force.

Well, from what my husband told me the assigned hospital/clinic is actually with the Marine. Not with the Navy. So I guess good luck to them and to all Corpsman now!
I bet the North Korea thing make a little difference.
