I just received the box from my Son... So excitind!!! But a little concerned because he did not mail back his wallet, not sure if they are allowed to keep them. But all his clothes were just thrown in there. haha...  Does anyone know if they are allowed to keep their wallet? We had a little mishap at MEPS where his Navy backpack and Cell phone were taken. So he had to borrow a cell phone to make his 10 second call and call me from airport.

Yes, they are alowed to keep their wallets. See Things to Do in the LastMonth Before Your Future Sailor Leaves for the RTC; it talks a lot about that and what to put in it. I'm sorry you missed that before he left.

I see you have joined Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones); join the group, DEP-Leavin for bootcamp in May, to connect with others with loved ones who the same day and may have PIR together. You may want to join, or at least check out, PIR Reference Information and New Members Stop Here. Once you know your SR’s PIR date and/or division number, watch in Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and/or at http://www.navyformoms.com/forum/topics/groups-listed-by-pir-date and join the group for that once it has been created. There will be a lot of great information and support for you in those groups. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) and Discussions within the groups. Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will let you know what is happening, but you will also want to check out the other Pages in all of the groups.

Oh Thank You, that gives me some relief! :)

You are very welcome.

I just got the box today too!! I was sooo excited!! And just like your son, my daughter just thew everything in. LOL  Oh, and she sent her wallet - don't they need that?

But, my question is this and I hope someone can answer it quickly -  inside the box was a large manilla envelope with nothing in it.  It has an address in the top left corner and an address stamped in the middle of the envelope with her last name across the top. No note from her. The envelope was used. Is this her address????  Do I finally get to send the 5 letters I have all ready for her???  LOL  I'm wanting to send and get letters so I know what she's been doing for a week.  I miss her so much.

Sigh.

Anyway, if someone could let me know if you think this is her way, or someone's, way of letting me know her mailing address I would greatly appreciate it.  :o)

Some gals keep their wallets and some send them back and put everything in their Valuables Sock. She won't need her wallet until after PIR.

That envelope is the envelope that contained her paperwork on the way to the RTC.  DO NOT send any mail to that address. See Arrival and What Happens at the RTC. Wait on the form letter before sending any letters.

Join the groups I mentioned above. To join a group, click on the group name and when the group page opens, click on "+ Join..." in the upper right.

Ahhh, thank you so much!!

Dang it though - I just want to send her letters!!

I guess no news is good news though huh?

Thanks again!!

You are very welcome. Yes, you will hear "No news is good news!" often and have to tell yourself that more than a few times in BC and once your Sailor is in the fleet.

I had one of those in my box too. It was opened but in it was his airline tickets and his departure info. The return label was from MEPS so I am pretty sure he was the group leader for when they departed. It had a paper on group leader instructions also. :) The dark brown envelope once carried all of the kids who left that day's airline tickets in it. That is not the address your Daughter will have. :) Hope this helps!

It helps a ton!!  Thank you so much!!  I'll just keep waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting....

:o)

Thanks!
