For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

My son left yesterday 6/3
My son left for boot camp yesterday and I miss him terribly already. I witnessed his oath at MEPS, then sat with him at the airport until he left. Today I've wondered about him all day - what he was doing, how he is coping - it was a weepy day for me. I know he will be okay, just hope I can survive this journey.

I agree with you about writing a daily letter helps - definitely helps me. Now, i can't wait for the address so this pile of letters can get mailed!!!!

My daughter left June 3rd It was very hard she has a 11 year old daughter who will be staying with me. I miss her and hope she is doing well.

Yes, the recruiter will take your future Sailor to a hotel the day before the MEPS date. You can eat with her that night at the hotel--she can't leave th hotel--and you can meet her at MEPS the next morning and see her sworn in and go to the airport and spend time there if you both want that.

Marylou: I did go to MEPS to witness my son's oath. He got in the bus and headed for the airport and I got in my car and headed in the same direction. I was able to get gate passes and sit with him until his flight left. i just told the gate agent his name and flight number and told her that he was leaving for boot camp and had arrived about an hour or so before I did - I also mentioned that the group had already gone through TSA. She was a very nice woman and processed all FOUR of us for gate passes. My sister is a travel agent and said I would probably not be given gate passes and not to get my hopes up. Have as much information as you can for the gate agent and see what happens - good luck.

I also had no difficulty getting through to spend the time with my son before he left for RTC. I have found most airlines are sympathetic and will issue a gate pass for this occasion. It never hurts to ask.

My SR left on thursday 6th and on wednesday we went with him to the recruits office, then to the hotel. If your daughter wants to go out, they have to be back @ the hotel before 9pm. We got to MEPS @ 8:30 and were able to see him oath, like @ 10a, and after that we stayed with him until his shuttle came to get them to the airport, it was @ 2p. We said our final good bye as he got in the shuttle

Got the box today! Bittersweet, was excited to get it, but got sad when I saw his clothes and phone :(
